Did you know that standing balance plays an important role in independent walking? Standing balance is a fundamental skill before a child learns to take independent steps, because it helps them learn how to manage against gravity, helps them build strength, and helps them build balance reactions that are important to coordinating walking.

Bentley has been working hard in physical therapy on his standing balance! Bentley has been working on standing at the wall while pulling squigzs off to help challenge his standing balance. Now Bentley is able to maintain his balance when pulling the squigzs off of the wall! Way to go Bentley!

Hooray! Olivia has graduated from physical therapy! Olivia came to us for some knee pain, and difficulty with activity such as running and jumping. Olivia can now run and jump with no knee pain and has normal leg strength! Way to go Olivia! 🎉

Meet Mrs. Lou’s friend, Austin! In Speech Therapy, Austin is working on “processing speed,” a skill where the brain has to quickly think through and figure out what to do or say. To work on this,Mrs. Lou and Austin play Head Banz Blast Off! Austin has to use his processing speed to help Mrs. Lou quickly guess the mystery pictures before the timer runs out. Hooray! Hunter had graduated from physical therapy! Hunter came to us to work on some gross motor delays, with Hunter being unable to walk independently for long distances when he started with us a few months ago, and now he is able to walk for longer distances with no assistance. He is also now able to complete stairs with a handrail and has more strength overall! Hunter was so sweet and brought us some thank you gifts on his graduation day! Thank you buddy and way to go Hunter! 🎉🎓

Did you know that today is World Down Syndrome Day? 🌎

Down syndrome is a genetic condition caused by an extra copy of chromosome 21 (Trisomy 21). Down syndrome causes gross motor and fine motor delays, facial characteristics, and other health complications.

We want to help spread awareness of Down syndrome, so today we are participating in Lots of Socks, where we wear our colorful and mismatched socks! 🧦

Why lots of socks? To show that each of us are special no matter our uniqueness, we are all bright and colorful! So rock your socks to show your support! 💙💛🧦

Hooray! Kyra has graduated from physical therapy! She worked hard on her strength and coordination! She is now able to complete age appropriate skills such as skipping, hopping on one leg, and completing hard coordination tasks such as hopscotch! Way to go Kyra! 🎉🎓
