Here are 3 quick ways to try the /r/ sound at home—no flashcards required!

✅ Renaming the sound like 'The Growling Sound' helps children reframe how they think about making the sound.
✅ Practice in the mirrow with a smile! Sometimes it's as simple as getting those pesky lips out of the way.
✅ Give them something to visualize like licking peanut butter to get better tongue placement.

The truth is — speech delays often hide in plain sight.
Kids can be smart, social, and thriving — and still struggle with sounds, clarity, or language development that will hold them back later.

👉 By age 3, children should be understood by familiar adults most of the time.
👉 By age 4, they should be understood by strangers most of the time.
👉 By Kindergarten, they should have mastered sounds like p, b, m, t, d, n, k, g, f — and be clearly communicating full ideas.
