Rachael Renee “Rae Rae” Kerr, age 43, of Starke, Florida went to her Heavenly Home on January 29, 2026, at her residence. She was born in Lake Forest, Illinois on August 31, 1982, to her loving parents, Ralph Leidy and Marjorie Jewett. Affectionately known as “Rae Rae” by her closest family and friends, she was raised in St. Petersburg, Florida. She attended Northeast High School and was homeschooled during her senior year, graduating in 2000. A few years later, Rachael discovered her passion for healthcare and began her studies at Galen School of Nursing, where she proudly earned her LPN certification. Rachael worked for many years as an LPN, but her true calling was in health and wellness. She fulfilled this passion by opening Loaded T in Orange Park, Florida, where she helped others live balanced, healthy lives. The community she fostered with Herbalife was a very important part of her life that she cherished. More than anything, Rachael adored her role as a mother. She treasured her children, Cameron, Raelan, and Brody, and embraced each day to the fullest alongside them. Rachael was a woman of deep faith, relying daily on her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She found great joy in attending Unity Baptist Church in Lake Butler, where she was a longtime and devoted member. Known also for her competitive spirit, Rachael loved playing Yellow Car, Pinochle, and Canasta; games with her family she often times dominated. Her laughter, determination, and loving heart will be remembered always by those who knew her. Her family takes comfort in knowing that Rachael had found her life partner, her peace, her soulmate in Steve Moore. Someone who loved her just as deeply as she loved. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Vern and Marge Jewett and paternal grandfather, Ralph Leidy.

Rachael is survived by her parents, Ralph Leidy and Marjorie (Pat) Morton of St. Petersburg, FL; children, Cameron Belecour, Raelan Kerr and Brody Kerr all of St. Petersburg, FL; brother, Nick (Sadia) Leidy of St. Petersburg, FL; paternal grandmother, Mary Leidy; along with several extended family members and beloved friends.

The concept of delayed grief in the military environment doesn’t mean all Veterans grieve in the same way. But sometimes the unique conflict situation Veterans face and their inability to take time off to grieve the loss of a fellow service member, frequently brings on specific instances of survivor guilt and traumatic grief.

TALK – sometimes an opportunity to express oneself on an emotional level is best. Talk to another Veteran or find a family member or friend who is able to be present and listen without judgment. Seek immediate assistance during times of crisis.

CONNECT – there are a wide range of programs and resources geared towards Veterans, e.g. the National Veterans Foundation provides crisis services for Vets and their families and maintains a current list of organizations that offer targeted assistance for Veterans. Connect with others and get help on dealing with grief.

ADVOCATE – it can be difficult for fellow Veterans to claim the health and financial benefits due to them for their honorable service. Veterans can help each other by getting involved and advocating in person or online so that all Veterans receive the help they deserve, including help for handling grief.
