There’s something so mesmerizing about seeing the under-growth of the tree. Such a complex maze of life that is typically hidden from us is now revealed because of the natural erosion on our sweetgum creekbank. ❤️

When life gives you lemons…. or downed Sweetgum trees… 😊
Here at Sweetgum Farm we’ve had several trees cut for safety reasons (too close to the house) many of which were our Sweetgums. It’s made a mess of our yards, but oh boy at the treasure that has fallen in my lap! I have harvested the bounty for future tinctures, elixirs, and ointments. I currently have some inner bark in the dehydrator, leaves air-drying on the back porch and gum balls in the freezer just waiting for a free day to stock my apothecary.
I can’t wait to show you the process! 🤓
