🧠✨ Baby Head Shapes: What Every Parent Should Know
As parents, we spend so much time watching our little ones grow — every stretch, every smile, every nap. But one thing many parents overlook (and often worry about later) is the shape of their baby’s head. And guess what? It’s more common than you think for babies to develop flat spots or slight asymmetry, especially in the first months of life.
This chart explains the three main types:
➡️ Plagiocephaly – when one side of the head becomes flattened
➡️ Brachycephaly – when the back of the head flattens and becomes wider
➡️ Dolichocephaly – when the head grows longer and narrower
Each condition can range from normal → mild → moderate → severe, and these differences can help parents understand when simple repositioning is enough — and when a pediatrician or specialist may need to take a closer look.
💛 The good news? Early awareness makes a huge difference.
Most head-shape concerns can improve with tummy time, varied positioning, supervised play, and guidance from your child’s healthcare provider. If you ever feel unsure, it’s always okay to ask questions — your peace of mind matters.
Parents, you’re doing an incredible job. Learning, watching, caring, and advocating for your little one is what truly makes the difference. 👶💛✨
