Foxdale friends, a winter storm is heading toward State College, and while most of us have seen plenty of snow in our day, a friendly safety reminder never hurts.

A Cozy & Safe Snow-Day Checklist:

• Make sure you’ve got your favorite comfort foods ready - soup, tea, and maybe a treat or two.
• Charge phones and tablets so you can stay connected with family, friends, and the latest weather updates.
• If you must go outside, walk like a penguin. They’ve been training for this their whole lives.
• Keep flashlights handy in case the power blinks - dramatic candlelit storytelling is optional but encouraged.
• Check in with neighbors. Sometimes a quick call makes all the difference.
• If you don’t have to drive, enjoy the view from indoors. Let the plows do their thing while you stay warm.

Stay safe, stay cozy, and let’s all enjoy the beauty of winter from the comfort of home.

Foxdale Village residents recently rolled up their sleeves for a Teaching Kitchen experience with Sous Chef Colin, who guided them through the art of homemade pasta making. As he demonstrated how to make traditional cavatelli by hand, Colin also shared stories from his time spent in Italy, where he learned the techniques and traditions behind authentic pasta making.

Colin talked about the importance of using high-quality ingredients, including premium flour and cheeses imported from Italy, and how those ingredients elevate even the simplest dishes. Residents left with fresh pasta they made themselves to cook for dinner, plus a special gift from Colin: a homemade Bolognese sauce prepared just for them.

Foxdale Village welcomes Lena Thynell to the second floor art gallery now through March 11. An opening reception will be held this Sunday, January 11 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. The reception and show are free and open to the public.

Gallery hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays and from noon until 4:00 p.m. on weekends.
