Instructor Spotlight
Makenna Kane

Makenna has been filling in here and there in the schedule for a few months now, and we are excited to announce she is joining the Fam with a class of her own.
You can join her on Thursdays, at 7p for Intermediate Evening Flow.

Makenna first discovered yoga as a way to find balance between movement, mindfulness, and meaning. What began as a curiosity quickly became a lifelong practice, one that grounds her through every season of growth. After completing her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Yoga East+West in Costa Rica, Makenna deepened her understanding of both the physical and philosophical aspects of yoga, blending traditional Hatha principles with the fluidity of Vinyasa.

Her classes weave mindful sequencing with intentional breathwork, encouraging students to move with awareness, strength, and compassion. Drawing from her background in kinesiology and human connection, Makenna’s teaching emphasizes alignment, embodiment, and presence, guiding students not just through poses, but toward a deeper understanding of themselves.

Through her journey, yoga has become more than movement; it’s a practice of returning home, to the body, the breath, and the moment.

Hi WIM Fam! We have a few schedule changes to announce.
Tuesday's Tranquility is moving to 6pm and Thursday's Intermediate Evening Flow will now be taught by Makenna, and is moving to 7pm.
All changes are effective immediately.

This is also a good time to remind you that the weather can be finicky this time of year. It is always beneficial to pre-register for class, that way, should a cancellation need to happen, you will be informed. If you choose not to pre-register, double checking the online calendar is encouraged.

Here at Wellness in Motion, we believe gratitude has the power to shift everything.

It’s not about being happy all the time or having everything go your way — it’s about noticing the good, even in small moments. A simple expression of gratitude can literally rewire the brain, lifting your mood and inviting more positivity into your life.

This month, our Youth Strength Training group started a Gratitude Chain in the studio — and now, we’re inviting our entire Wellness in Motion community to join in!

✨ What are you thankful for today?
Next time you’re in the studio, write a note of gratitude to add to the chain — or share it in the comments below, and we’ll add it for you.

Let’s fill our space (and our hearts) with gratitude, one link at a time.

Metta means “loving-kindness” — a meditation that invites you to send compassion to yourself, to those you love, and even to those who challenge you.

It’s simple, yet profoundly healing. You repeat gentle phrases like:
May I be happy. May I be healthy. May I be at peace.
Then extend that same wish outward — to others and to the world.

Practicing Metta regularly softens the heart, reduces stress, and builds emotional resilience. It helps you respond to life (and people) with more patience, understanding, and warmth.

A few minutes each day can shift your energy from tension to tenderness.
Start with yourself — and watch how kindness expands.

Join Mandy in Beginner Yoga on Fridays at 9a, as she leads this meditation to end her class.

Meet your instructor: Toni

Toni began her yoga journey 16 years ago after graduating from Penn State and accepting her first sales position. Yoga became an outlet to build strength both emotionally and physically helping her to work through some personal life challenges. With 11 years of total teaching experience, Toni spent the first six years teaching group fitness classes. One class was inspired by muay tai, boxing and karate and the other was inspired by tai chi, pilates and yoga. It was the love of the second that encouraged Toni to pursue her 200 hour RYT at The Zen Den in Margate, NJ in 2015, her Mindfulness Resilience Training for Trauma through the Veteran’s Yoga Project in 2019 and now her 300 RYT at Wellness in Motion. Toni’s vinyasa is a fun, flowy practice designed to empower you.

You can practice with Toni on Sundays at 11a - Intermediate Vinyasa Flow
