A Journey to You gives a shout out to our new Administrative Assistant addition Hunter Knisely!

Hunter is excited to join our team with six years of customer service experience. With extensive training in solutions assistance, administration, and management, Hunter is equipped with the capabilities to give you a positive experience at A Journey to You. Hunter understands that everyone has their own unique story, and he prides himself in being respectful and caring of this as he helps you through the processes that come with working with us. Hunter’s goal is to make you feel welcomed and encouraged as you start your journey to a better you. In Hunter’s free time, he enjoys playing and watching basketball, and going to the movie theater.

A Journey to You is proud to welcome Master’s Intern Angel Moulton at our State College Facility!

Angel received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with minors in Women’s Studies and Gender & Sexuality Studies from Pennsylvania State University in 2020. They are currently a Master’s student in the Counseling Education program at Pennsylvania State University with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in Schools and Communities. Angel’s counseling theory is eclectic and flexible based on each individual client but with strong roots in person-centered and feminist theories. They believe that empathy, developing a strong therapeutic connection, and understanding the systems in society that influence all of us in many different ways are key in therapy. They have strong passions for mental health advocacy, LGBTQ+ advocacy, and social justice. Welcome Angel! ❤️

Our Connection Garden continues to grow!!!!! Kids and Adults are enjoying all of the benefits of gardening. Getting in the dirt, planting seeds (also used to coincide with “seeds” and visions planted in their minds that they are nurturing and observing growth) getting a healthy dose of vitamin D, and beautifying it with our fairy garden figurines! Come get your hands dirty with us! ❤️🥬🫑🌻🪴

A Journey to You is proud to introduce to you Anushka Mohapatra, Master’s Level Intern who is currently filling her schedule with clients in preparation for her internship beginning in August. Anushka received her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, in May 2020. She is currently pursuing her master’s in Counselor Education, with a dual emphasis in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park. Anushka’s theoretical orientation is existential therapy, understanding people’s worldviews and thought processes. She previously worked as a Registered Behavior Therapist providing Applied Behavior Analysis for children with autism. Anushka serves as the executive board co-secretary of Chi Sigma Iota, Rho Alpha Mu chapter, the professional counseling honor society for 2022-23. Anushka looks forward to working closely with people of different age groups. Her techniques deeply align with person-centered therapy through active listening and empathy. A Journey to You’s Connection Garden is ready! We repurposed some pavers on our State College property and made a garden bed for our staff and clients! What could be more therapeutic than getting down in the dirt! We’ve got plants, vegetables, and all the fixings from gloves, to watering cans, tools, and fairy garden figurines! Come help plant, tend, contribute, take, and enjoy creating and connecting! Can’t wait to see how our garden grows! ❤️🪴🌻🍅🫑🥬

A Journey to You is proud to bring on Master’s Intern Mackenzie Brown to our team! Mackenzie received her undergraduate degree in Rehabilitation and Human Services from Penn State in August of 2020. She worked as a crisis counselor following graduation and prior to moving to Pittsburgh, where she accepted a position as a Children and Adolescent Development Specialist. Mackenzie has recently moved back to her hometown of State College to complete her degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lock Haven University. Mackenzie utilizes a person-centered therapy approach, and she enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adult populations. Welcome Mackenzie! ❤️

Our first round of therapeutic camp was a huge success! Our kiddos learned useful tools for successful listening, identifying and expressing feelings, they acquired the vocabulary to effectively communicate thoughts and feelings, found ways to cope better with change, learned about the mind/body connection to emotionally regulate, and began to understand and practice empathy! In 8 weeks they learned this through music, movement, art, role play and pet assisted therapy. But most importantly, they connected with one another and cultivated meaningful relationships!
