First Annual Wellness Fair in Boalsburg—what a day! 🌿

Thank you Bethany Judy (Hype Human) for organizing and bringing our wellness community together!

Loved sharing a table with Justine Andronici (Path to Calm) and getting hair magic from Portfolio Salon! 💁‍♀️✨

Moving into spring and thrilled to be on this pathway.

February is National Heart Month. ❤️

Heart disease is still the #1 cause of death—despite all our medications and interventions.

What if the missing piece isn't another medication?

What if it's THIS:

The laughter of your best friend.
The hug from someone who really gets you.
The community that shows up when life gets hard.
The purpose that gets you out of bed in the morning.

Research proves it: The strongest predictor of longevity isn't your cholesterol or blood pressure.

It's your RELATIONSHIPS.

Your heart doesn't just pump blood. It feels connection. It craves purpose. It needs JOY.

Here's the truth: Tending to the spirit of the heart affects the physical body.

Savor the daily joys, laughter, and wonders—it's great medicine for the soul.

This Heart Month, tend to your WHOLE heart:
❤️ Call the friend you've been meaning to reach out to
❤️ Say yes to what lights you up
❤️ Show up for your people
❤️ Let yourself be deeply loved
❤️ Follow what makes you feel ALIVE

There are many ways to tend a garden. 🌱

Your heart is worth tending—all of it.

Sharing some more photos from Ecuador, some good heart medicine.
How are YOU nurturing your heart this month? Tell me or share a picture! 👇

Officially out of the Amazon at IAMOE center, back to WiFi strong enough to send pics.

What an incredible adventure in the Amazon! From learning about the rainforest’s powerful ecosystem to working with the Waorani tribe making indigenous jewelry and competing in a blow dart contest, every moment was unforgettable.
We explored Yasuní National Park in a canoe carved from a single tree and shared the experience with the most amazing, diverse group of people.
So grateful. So inspired. Can’t wait to bring these stories home. 🌎💚

Ceremonial Cacao in Its Homeland 🍫
We shared ceremonial cacao grown right here in the jungle—an experience of connecting with this sacred plant where it originated.
Cacao has been used ceremonially by Indigenous peoples for thousands of years. It's heart medicine, both literally and spiritually, creating space for intention, connection, focus, and opening the heart.
Science shows it increases serotonin and dopamine, that’s why we love our chocolate:)
Drinking cacao prepared by those who tend the trees and carry forward ancestral practices brings deeper understanding. This is cacao fresh from the source, prepared with reverence by the hands that know it best.

Deeply grateful to learn from the forest and its guardians. 🌱💚

Meet Cat's Claw 🌿
This powerful vine, known to many in the Lyme disease community, has supported health for generations.

What makes it remarkable? Each part—bark, leaves, stems, flowers—has distinct healing properties and traditional preparations know how to use each part specifically. Indigenous healers have known this for centuries, and science is slowly confirming their wisdom.

Studying cat's claw in its native rainforest environment taught how to prepare it most effectively and what part of the plant is used for different health conditions. When we honor both the plant and traditional knowledge, we gain new insights. Never would they simply grind the plant to powder and place into a capsule, that’s not how we make the medicinal parts available to our bodies.

I’m writing this morning early before others join the sparse internet, inside my mosquito netting, with pouring rains outside the cabin all night. Curious to see how the streams and plants respond to this rain. Us humans, we’ll delay our canoe and flex to the elements that rule the jungle.

Arrived in the Amazon and completely amazed. This morning’s jungle walk was with another participant, Nikki — a UK-based biotech microbiologist focused on developing new antibiotics. We quickly became friends, bonded by a shared love of plants — me the clinician, she the scientist.

The last new class of antibiotics was discovered 39 years ago, and forests like these may hold some of our next most important medicines.

As we hiked, we talked about viruses and microbes — how they mutate, shift form, and evade drugs and the immune system. By switching perspectives, we began forming new ideas for treatment and discussed how functional medicine approaches that support the immune system are essential in this ever-changing microbial world.

At the end of the hike, Nikki smiled and said, “Imagining together was really fun — let’s keep sharing ideas and research.”Here’s to continuing to share, grow, and learn

Arrived in Ecuador 🇪🇨 to study with Dr. Rocio Alarcón, PhD—ethnobotanist, herbalist, and former pharmaceutical researcher turned conservationist, devoted to protecting medicinal plants, ecosystems, and indigenous healing traditions passed down for millennia.
Tomorrow we journey deep into the Amazon. I go with gratitude carrying these teachings forward to inform my work—integrating ancient wisdom and modern science with care, responsibility, and respect for the future. Follow along as this journey unfolds. 🌿

Getting outside in the snow is a great way to reset the nervous system, stay active, and have fun. Winter senses offer a unique perspective to hear the stillness, watch the sparkles, feel the enlivening briskness. Wear layers to keep warm and enjoy.

Full circle. 💚

I'm sitting in Lancaster County absorbing 2 days of learning at a Lyme disease clinic with pioneer Rita Rhoads Martinez, CRNP, CNM, and her fantastic daughter Rosita Martinez. I'm feeling so grateful.

Grateful for the journey that brought me here.
Grateful for every patient who has trusted me.
Grateful for the path I am on.

I started my healthcare journey almost 30 years ago —as a doula and midwife assistant. I helped at Amish homebirths and will never forget waking up to Shoefly pie with fresh milk. I remember the birth from that day too.

I learned about healing, helping others, and the work of holding space for people in vulnerable moments. I carry all of this forward.

Every step has been driven by YOUR trust.
You've shared your struggles with me.
And every time you trust me with your story, I feel the weight of that responsibility.

So I keep learning.
I keep searching for better answers for YOU.

Lyme Disease treatment is coming to Synergy because you deserve it.
Because Central PA needs it.
Because your healing matters to me.

Thank you for being on this journey with me.

There's so much more good ahead!
