What’s in a Name?

When coming up with names for my practice here on the internet and real life, I wanted to connect many different aspects of my own interests. As an artist, healer, gardener, maker, etc. I knew I had a lot to offer. However, the name Reiki Garden came almost immediately - like it was already decided for me (thank goodness!). The more I meditated on the name, the more it made sense - all the people in my life were the plants and I needed to make space for them to grow and flourish.

Equipped with what I already knew, and what I have yet to discover I set out to plant the seed of my garden. To shine the light in the depths of the soil, to provide freshwater, and to oxygenate the space. To guide these little plants to flower and create the next generation of what could be.

Much like Reiki, gardening is done whether we intervene or not. From the cracks in the sidewalk ‘weeds’ grow, the natural cycle of forests plays, and the dunes recover from any storm. However, like Reiki, a gardener knows where every plant goes for maximum growth or potential. So by intervening, we can organize the chaos of plant life and allow our plant friends to flourish and grow uninhibited.
