Today, hearts sit heavy as we remember Jabari Walker, a young man who should be walking across a college campus, carrying dreams, books, and purpose. Instead, he rests in a cemetery……..all because of the senseless, selfish actions of another individual.

Gun violence doesn’t just take a life. It rips through families, it breaks communities, it leaves silent chairs at dinner tables and empty spaces in hearts that will never be filled. It touches mothers, fathers, siblings, friends……and it touches those of us who have to stand over these young men far too soon.

As we remember him, let us also remember the cost of silence, the weight of violence, and the responsibility we all share to speak up, stand up, and fight for our community. Losing our young people is not normal, and it should never become acceptable.

Rest well, Jabari. Your life mattered. Your memory will push us to love harder, to protect our youth, and to demand change.

Today, we remember the life and legacy of our dear friend and dedicated staff member, Tony Lamar Connelly, on what would have been his 60th birthday. Though your life was tragically taken far too soon, your presence continues to fill our hearts and your spirit still walks beside us every day.

Tony wasn’t just a part of our team, he was family. His wisdom, humor, and compassion left a mark on everyone he met. His work ethic and genuine care for others inspired us all, and his memory continues to guide the way we serve our families with dignity, integrity, and compassion.
