If you’re using a weight loss medication through the State Health Benefit Plan, there have been some major changes this year that you need to know about.

Coverage is now connected to enrollment in the 9am Health lifestyle management program, and prescriptions must come through their providers.

If you’re covered by the State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP) and take a weight-loss GLP-1 medication (like Wegovy or Zepbound), a change is coming.

Starting February 1, 2026, SHBP will require these medications to be prescribed through 9amHealth network in order to remain covered. Participation in their weight-management program will also be required.

👉 Coverage is continuing, but action may be needed before your current authorization expires.

Through this network, we collaborate with colleges of pharmacy, including the University of Georgia, to advance rural pharmacy practice.

Rural-CP’s mission is to reduce rural health disparities by supporting high-quality implementation research with rural community pharmacies. We are honored to be part of a network of more than 155 rural pharmacies working toward that goal across the Southeast.
