💗 Meet the SPOT! 💗

Meet Anna Walker, one of our Speech-Language Pathologists at The Therapy SPOT!

Anna earned her M.Ed. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Georgia. Being a Statesboro local, she grew up seeing the incredible impact that The Therapy SPOT has on our community. Lea and Caroline also supported and encouraged her as she worked toward becoming an SLP. When her family moved back to Statesboro, there was really no question where she wanted to work, and she is so thankful for the opportunity to now be part of the SPOT team.

After serving for several years on the mission field in Nicaragua, Anna developed a special interest in the Spanish language and loves working with Spanish-speaking and bilingual families.

Anna is married to her high school sweetheart, Brandon Walker, and they have a three year old son named Eli, with a baby girl on the way!! Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, going on walks, reading, cooking, and serving at Southbridge Community Church.

One of Anna’s favorite parts of her job is walking alongside patients and their families. Being an advocate and cheerleader for children and families is something she considers such an honor and privilege.

At The Therapy SPOT, the team lives by the motto “be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.” Anna loves celebrating wins, encouraging positivity, and helping equip families to support their children. She also says the SPOT team is truly the best of the best, and the coworkers who have become mentors and friends make work meaningful and fun.

We are so thankful to have Anna on the SPOT team! 💙

💜 Purple Day 💜

Today our team wore purple to show our support for the incredible children and families affected by epilepsy. It’s our joy to help some courageous and amazing kids who live with epilepsy!

Epilepsy doesn’t define our kids—their courage, resilience, and joy do. 💜

We are honored to walk alongside some of the strongest, most determined kids and families. Our patients with CP inspire us every single day with their resilience, hard work, and incredible progress—no milestone is too small to celebrate!

We’re proud to support, advocate, and cheer them on every step of the way. Thank you to our amazing families for trusting us to be part of your journey 💚

Just like Kim Kardashian is a person with many talents so are our friends who are rocking an extra chromosome. 🥳

This Saturday is World Down Syndrome Day. It’s a day in which we celebrate all the amazing qualities of our friends, but also advocate for their rights and inclusion.

This years theme is “Together Against Loneliness”, by participating in the campaign it’s a great conversation starter for how we can encourage a sense of community for all individuals.

So don’t forget to wear a fun pair of socks (because socks look like chromosomes🧦) this Saturday and join in on the fun!

👏 Speech therapy graduate 👏

Today we are cheering for Rhett, who rocked all his articulation goals and graduated from speech therapy! 🗣️

It’s always an honor when a fellow therapist or healthcare provider chooses us to care for their own children. As therapists, we know the impact that early intervention can have. As moms, we know that our children will often work harder with another professional 💙

Rhett’s speech has improved by leaps and bounds, and with his winning personality, we know he will do big things!

🎉 Speech Therapy Graduate! 🎉

Today we’re celebrating a very special guy who graduated from speech therapy! 🗣️✨

We have watched this little one grow in confidence, communication, and independence. From first words to clearer words and big conversations, the progress has been incredible—and we are so proud!

Graduation days are our favorite because they mean a child has reached important goals and is ready for their next big adventure. As therapists, these days can also be bittersweet because we miss our kiddos when they leave us!🌟

Way to go, superstar! Your hard work paid off, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing things you’ll say and do next. 💙

✨ Meet the SPOT ✨

Meet Gracen Durden, one of our amazing Occupational Therapists!

Gracen’s journey with The SPOT started back in 2016 when she volunteered at our summer day camp as a junior in high school looking for service hours. That experience sparked her love for occupational therapy, and now she has come full circle serving the same community where it all began.

She earned her Bachelor’s in Human Development and Family Science from the University of Georgia and went on to complete her Master of Health Science in Occupational Therapy at Augusta University.

Gracen loves helping kids build confidence and independence. One of her favorite parts of the job is seeing the excitement on a child’s face when they master a new skill. She also enjoys working with primitive reflex integration and has been learning even more about it recently.

Outside of the clinic, Gracen enjoys all things DIY. You can usually find her painting, crafting, or flipping furniture. She also loves exploring antique stores and spending time near the lake.

Gracen was born and raised in Statesboro, where she now lives with her husband BJ, whom she married in 2025, and their chocolate lab Cooper.

We’re so grateful she’s part of The SPOT team and serving the community she grew up in! 💛
