Get • The postpartum period (the fourth trimester) is one of the most neurologically and emotionally sensitive windows in a mother’s life.

During this time:
• Hormones shift dramatically
• The nervous system recalibrates
• Identity transformation occurs
• Mother-baby bonding patterns are established

This is why rest, nourishment, and emotional support are not luxuries, they’re essential.

Supporting the mother supports the baby.

📌 Don’t forget- I have many FREE resources on my website for conception, pregnancy, and birth!!

Storms roll in… and sometimes babies do too. 🌩️👶

Last night’s drop in barometric pressure had this mama racing to the birth center, arriving ready to push with a police es**rt right behind her! 🚓

The officer quickly realized what was happening and jumped in to help, even pushing mom in the wheelchair to get her inside.

We love seeing our community show up for birth like this. 💛

Quick reminder for families heading in during active labor:
• Drive a safe speed
• If you are being followed by an officer, call 911 and let dispatch know you’re in labor and heading to the birth center.

Babies don’t always wait… but we’ll be ready when you get here!!

✨ Employee of the Month for February: Lori! ✨

Last month we celebrated the amazing Lori! If you’ve met Lori during your care at the birth center, you already know what a steady, knowledgeable, and compassionate presence she is. As one of our RNs, Birth Assistants, and Lactation Consultants, Lori supports families through some of the most important moments of their lives, from labor support to helping new parents feel confident with feeding their babies. 💛

Originally from the Washington, D.C. area, Lori moved to the area in 2019 and has been caring for families in our community ever since. She’s a proud mom of three (ages 13, 13, and 10) and shares her home with her pitbull, Duchess 🐾.

Lori is an RN, BSN, and Lactation Consultant, bringing both clinical expertise and a calm, reassuring presence to every shift. Families often comment on how supported and cared for they feel when Lori is in the room and we couldn’t agree more.

When she’s off the clock, you’ll most likely find her enjoying the outdoors or spending quality time with friends and family.

Lori, we’re so grateful for the skill, kindness, and heart you bring to our team and to the families we serve. February is all yours! 🎉

Drop some love for Lori in the comments! 💕

Daylight savings can feel overwhelming when your sleeping baby suddenly becomes irritable and confused. Remember to be patient. Babies have to adjust just like we do...but they can't read a clock!
1. Move bedtime gradually if baby is struggling with the usual bedtime. Be flexible. Your baby's brain is growing and changing daily and they don't understand why life just FEELS different.
2. Maintain good sleep hygiene. Create a relaxing routine if you don't already have one and try to be consistent.
3. Get help! Tag team with your partner. Take advantage of a grandma, aunt or friend that is willing to come over and give you some respite!
4. Extra cuddles help everything get better.
5. Prepare for changes in the nursing schedule. It's likely temporary but a baby not nursing in the night may suddenly want to.
6. What works for your friend's baby or your last 2 babies may not work now. All babies have different needs.
7. Hang in there. Care for yourself. The adjustment is usually temporary and more light means extra outdoor time which helps everyone get tired!

Again, be flexible. Your baby will sleep! But there may be a transition period to finding a rhythm again. You've got this!
