🍫🤎 Happy National Brownie Day! 🤎🍫

Each year on December 8th, brownie lovers across the country take a moment to honor one of life’s simplest (and tastiest!) joys — the beloved brownie. Whether you love them fudgy, cakey, chewy, or loaded with extras, today is the perfect excuse to indulge!

Here at Nicholson Funeral Home, we’re joining in the fun and celebrating this delicious day. Some of us like classic chocolate, others swear by walnut brownies, and a few brave souls say the more caramel the better! 😋

Ways to Celebrate Today:
🍫 Bake a batch using your family’s favorite recipe
🍫 Host a brownie tasting with friends or coworkers
🍫 Surprise someone with a tray of homemade brownies
🍫 Ask your community partners who deserves “Best Brownie” bragging rights

Now we want to know… What’s YOUR favorite type of brownie?

🍪 National Cookie Day… COMPLETE SUCCESS! 🍪

And guess who pulled it off? Reba + Cookie Monster 😄💙

Today I got to make some sweet rounds for Nicholson Funeral Home—visiting the incredible staff at:

🏡 Gordon Hospice House
💙 Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County
🌿 Gentiva Hospice

Of course we had to bring out Cookie Monster for the theme… because if anyone deserves a cookie, it’s the people who spend their days caring for others.

“Caring for others is your calling… today let a 🍪 care for YOU!”

I had the best time chatting, laughing, and catching up with the selfless, hardworking staff at each location. Y’all pour so much heart into what you do—more than most people ever see. ❤️

From all of us at Nicholson Funeral Home and from the entire community:
🙏 Thank you for your compassion, your strength, and the dedication you show every single day.
You go above and beyond… and today, we brought the sugar to match! 😄✨

🍪 Happy National Cookie Day! 🍪

Today we’re celebrating one of the world’s favorite sweet treats—cookies! Whether you prefer them soft and chewy, crisp and buttery, or packed with chocolate chips, there’s a cookie out there for everyone.

At Nicholson Funeral Home, we love any excuse to add a little extra warmth and sweetness to the day—and National Cookie Day is the perfect occasion.

Fun fact: The word “cookie” comes from the Dutch word koekie, meaning “little cake,” though cookies are believed to have originated in Persia as early as the 7th century. Early American favorites included macaroons and gingerbread, and today the average American enjoys about 200 cookies a year—and honestly, we understand why!

And here’s a fun bit of history: Cookie Monster himself declared National Cookie Day in 1976. Who better to make it official? 😄

So celebrate today by baking a fresh batch, sharing some with a friend, or treating yourself to your favorite kind. After all, every day could use a little more sweetness.

What’s your favorite type of cookie? 🍪❤️

June Souther

June H. Souther, born Ha Jung Hee, lived her life in service - service to her family, her church and most importantly, to God. She was the first daughter and served her family by working and earning money to feed them. She even bought her parents a house. She served her 3 children by never wavering in her love for them, always loving them and looking for ways to help them when they needed it most. However, her greatest calling...

🍎 Happy National Red Apple Day! 🍎

Today, Reba had the pleasure of surprising Kelly, the Nursing Supervisor at Iredell Memorial Hospital, with a gift basket full of bright red apples!

Here at Nicholson Funeral Home, we truly believe nurses are the “core” of the community — always giving, always caring, and always showing up when it matters most.

We appreciate every single thing you do. ❤️
Nothing you do goes unnoticed!

Thank you, Kelly, and the entire nursing staff, for the compassion and dedication you show every day.
