Externalizing AND matching steady beat (AND in this example, using either hand) wires the brain for other areas that require physical coordination and balance as well as success in reading and speaking. This activity started in mama’s lap rocking and bouncing, then transitioned to a finger/hand play, then to mallet play, then to the drum.
