🚨 Health Alert: Nationwide Infant Formula Recall Linked to Infant Botulism

Do not use any ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula. All unexpired cans and single-serve sticks have been recalled nationwide following an outbreak of infant botulism.

As of November 11, 15 infants across 12 states have suspected or confirmed cases linked to this formula β€” including one suspected case under investigation in North Carolina.

🍼 If you have this formula:
β€’ Stop using it immediately.
β€’ Take a photo of the lot number or package details.
β€’ Safely throw it away or return it to the store where it was purchased.
β€’ Wash bottles, ni***es, counters, and any surfaces that may have touched the formula using hot, soapy water or a dishwasher.

⚠️ Watch for symptoms of infant botulism (can take weeks to appear):
β€’ Poor feeding
β€’ Difficulty swallowing
β€’ Decreased facial expression
β€’ Loss of head control
β€’ Trouble breathing or respiratory difficulty

If your infant has consumed ByHeart formula and shows any of these signs, seek medical care immediately.

ℹ️ Additional information:
β€’ ByHeart formula represents less than 1% of U.S. infant formula sales.
β€’ This recall does not affect WIC-eligible products.
β€’ The recall is not expected to cause formula shortages.

As the federal government shutdown continues, NCDHHS received guidance from the United States Department of Agriculture to issue partial benefits for November to the nearly 1.4 million people who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

NCDHHS is updating its payment system according to USDA’s specifications to prepare to issue benefits. If federal funding is provided this week as expected, NCDHHS expects all partial benefits to be loaded onto EBT cards by next week, so beneficiaries should check the balances on their cards often.

This follows USDA’s statement it would use $4.65 billion in emergency funds to cover about half of the federal SNAP program for the month of November in response to a lawsuit filed by North Carolina and 24 other states.
