Our men’s second talk from last night’s meeting. What an encouraging place to help share struggles you’ve faced throughout the week. We discussed Principle 2, every sin has its origin in our heart. Those struggles we face start in our hearts. Reach out to a brother or sister this week for help overcoming that ‘stinkin thinking’.

We encourage you to join us on Sunday morning for Sunday school and service. We have an awesome RU Sunday school class where we share and encourage and most of all grow in our knowledge of the Word and our relationship with Jesus. Come see us next Sunday morning at 9:30!

Last night RU Statham celebrated the new year with fellowship and games. This has become a yearly tradition and it was so fun! Thankful for a place where we can have good, clean fun and for these people we love!

Principle # 1 - If God’s against it, so am I. Galatians 5:19-21 gives us several examples of things God is against. Maybe for you, it’s been years since you have struggled with these things, or maybe it was this week. We are here every week to help you with your struggles and strongholds.

Second talk is a very important part of the program. It’s where relationships are built God can use us to encourage others during their struggles. So thankful for our time in second talk.

No matter your circumstance, there is a Bible verse to guide you. Last night in third talk, our director Rich Lane shared several verses with us to get us through many situations we will face in life. Here’s a good one to remember: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

R U living the life of an overcomer? Psalm 1 gives us wise instruction on how to do just that. At RU we recite this scripture each week. Eventually we will have it memorized. We can guide sinners and bless them and pray for them. But ultimately God’s word tells us that it is in our best interest not to make a habit of living a life close enough to allow the sin to affect our lives.
“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; And in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That bringeth forth his fruit in his season; His leaf also shall not wither; And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: But are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. We are working on challenges this week!
“No challenge, no change”. That’s commonly heard at RU. The RU challenges help us to learn scripture, share the ministry with others, help us be accountable in attending church services - all things that are important in growing our relationship with Christ.

A few of our students during third talk tonight. Tonight we praised the Lord for many things and carried each other’s burdens and prayed for each other. And then we ended the night with some awesome chili! It was a great night together. We are thankful for each and everyone who makes up the Statham chapter of RU.

Last night at RU, Matt brought us the message. He shared on Mark 5:1-20, the story of the Gadarene possessed with many demons. Praise God, under the blood we cannot be demonically possessed. But we do battle with Satan and darkness. 1 Peter 5:8 tells us “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” But Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths.”
