use isn’t the cause of homelessness for most people.

Many begin using after losing housing, as a way to cope with trauma, stress, and the daily challenges of surviving without a safe place to live.

When we focus on support instead of stigma, people have a better chance at stability and recovery.

No one chooses homelessness.

Most people lose housing because of circumstances they couldn’t prevent — job loss, eviction, domestic violence, illness, or the rising cost of housing.
When we understand the real causes, we can respond with compassion and solutions.

💙 This weekend, Team VCSB joined the Out of the Darkness Walk to honor lives lost, support those who are struggling, and stand together for hope.

Our team registered 27 walkers and raised $375 for the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention. Every step and every donation helps bring su***de prevention resources and education to our community.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared their stories, and walked with us. Together, we’re making a difference. 💙

Schools play a critical role in supporting students experiencing homelessness.

This includes children and youth who are sharing housing due to hardship, living in motels or shelters, or staying in cars or public spaces.

Keeping students connected to school helps provide stability, education, and hope. 💙
