Last Wednesday night at Giovanni’s in Mill City, we gathered with community members, local leaders, and service providers for a meaningful Town Hall conversation about the announced partnership between Santiam Hospital & Clinics and Salem Health Hospitals & Clinics.
Maggie Hudson, MBA, President & CEO of Santiam Hospital & Clinics, and Cheryl Nester Wolfe, MSN, RN, President & CEO of Salem Health Hospitals & Clinics, shared their vision for the future and—more importantly—listened. We heard directly from Idanha and Detroit community members about their hopes for greater access to services close to home.
Maggie also highlighted an exciting example of what that commitment looks like in action: the development of a Mill City Pharmacy. At a time when rural communities across the nation are losing pharmacies, Mill City—considered a pharmacy desert—is gaining one.
It was an engaging night filled with honest dialogue, shared vision, and a clear message: rural communities matter, and their voices are shaping what comes next. Thank you to everyone who showed up, spoke up, and continues to partner with us as we build a stronger future together. 💙
That listening continued beyond the Town Hall. Just yesterday, leaders from both hospitals were at Cascade Service Integration Team, continuing conversations with partners and community members about how this work shows up locally and how we move forward together.
