Mas Dough was founded in the midst of the pandemic in 2020. I was affected when the restaurant (Nami Nori, Manhattan) that I was working for at time closed, along with all other sit-down establishments in NYC. I spent most of my time perfecting my craft - cooking restaurant quality meals for family and friends when they couldn't go to one. Just as Nami Nori reopened their doors and it seemed like life was getting back on track, I faced the hardest challenge of my life. My family and I were told the news that my grandmother was taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, I never saw her again. Our matriarch, my role model, and best friend was gone. I situated my entire career path based off of trying to be like my grandmother, she was the best cook I've ever known. After she passed I started re-creating her recipes and sold them to families in NYC. The food was great, but ultimately it didn't work out. I was lost, and the person that usually helped me through tough times was no longer around. Something that always brought me happiness, just like many other human beings was - SWEETS! I began baking cakes, bread, and cookies on my own. All of a sudden I was hooked! I started becoming obsessed with making the perfect chocolate chip cookie. Something so simple yet frustrating. Continuously searching, reading every cookbook old and new, watching videos, following food bloggers. It took over eighty batches to finally perfect my recipe. Once I had my recipe I knew it was time to spread happiness just as my grandmother had. I like to think that some of the passion for food that my grandmother passed on shows in each batch of cookies that I make. And I hope that in time, my cookies can bring joy to many people!
These are all the different cookies I’ve made throughout the years ☺️ I’ve come a long way!!!
