Let’s work together to rephrase the classic “You’re so smart!”

Praising kids only for being “smart” can sometimes make them afraid to make mistakes or try new challenges. Instead, let’s celebrate effort, creativity, and perseverance! Here are 6 phrases to try:

1. “I love how hard you worked on that!” 💪
2. “You tried something new — that’s awesome!” 🌟
3. “Look at the progress you made!” 📈
4. “You figured that out all by yourself!” 🧠
5. “I’m proud of how persistent you were!” 🏃♂️💨
6.“I love how creative you were with this!” 🎨

💡 Swap “smart” for effort. Watch curiosity, confidence, and resilience grow!

According to 2024 data, approx 40% of adults in Kidder County are obese?!!!!
And only 17% have access to exercise opportunities (this is waaaaaay below ND average of 76%!).

Did you know...
It's recommended for adults to get 150 minutes per week of exercise (think heart pumping activity) as well as 2 days of weight/strength training??
And kids need 60 minutes of physical activity a DAY!

Let's find solutions to the barriers we face so we can stay healthy!!

Cold and flu season is approaching! What steps are you taking to stay healthy?

Antioxidants such as vitamins C and E and carotenoids help protect healthy cells from damage caused by free radicals.

🥬Carotenoids: Foods high in carotenoids include red, orange, deep-yellow and some dark-green leafy vegetables, such as tomatoes, carrots, spinach, Brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes, winter squash and broccoli.

🥜Vitamin E: Works with other antioxidants, such as vitamin C, to offer protection from some chronic diseases. Found in vegetable oils, salad dressings, wheat germ, whole-grain products, seeds, nuts and peanut butter.

🍅Vitamin C: Eat foods rich in vitamin C, such as citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruits, tangerines, strawberries, sweet peppers, tomatoes, broccoli and potatoes.
