He stayed local to attend Tarleton State University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2012. Has attended the University of North Texas Health Science Center where he earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2015. Over the course of his physical therapy education, Trey trained under board certified orthopedic clinical specialists Drs. Darin Deaton and Tina Neuwirth, as well as board certified neurologic clinical specialist Dr. Linda Csiza. During that time, he gained valuable experience in general outpatient orthopedics, pain management, post-surgical rehab, as well as neurologic/stroke, and vestibular rehabilitation. Trey is certified in dry needling through the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy Dry Needling Institute and is currently pursuing a specialty in clinical orthopedics. Trey chose physical therapy because of his passion for working with and helping people. Everyone has a story to tell and through which there is much to learn. He most values the patient-therapist relationship, and prides himself in providing high quality, compassionate care. Physical therapy and rehabilitation are not centered around the physical impairment, but rather the person, their experiences and livelihood. The art of physical therapy is truly getting to know each person and their individual circumstances in order to create a personalized treatment plan to help them achieve their specific goals. Trey commits to not only listening, but truly hearing your story and working alongside you to obtain your highest functional capabilities. Treyโ€™s professional interests include sports rehab, orthopedic manual therapy, dry needling, pain management, vestibular and balance therapy including vertigo treatments, as well as strength and conditioning. He is blessed to share life with his wife, Shelby Taylor, and their three kids Dru, Peyton and Jase.

We are beyond excited to introduce the very first Occupational Therapist in DPT history! ๐ŸŽ‰ Please help us welcome Kari Horton, OT, CHT to our team.

Kari earned her degree in Occupational Therapy from Colorado State University in 2002 and has spent more than two decades serving both adults and children in medical and school-based settings. Her experience across age groups and environments gives her a unique ability to meet patients exactly where they are and guide them back to meaningful, functional living.

In 2007, Kari discovered her passion for hand therapy and later earned her Certified Hand Therapist credential ๐Ÿซถ The CHT distinction reflects advanced clinical expertise in treating complex upper extremity conditions. She specializes in rehabilitation from the elbow to the hand, including custom splinting designed specifically for each individual patient. Whether someone is recovering from surgery, managing a fracture, or dealing with chronic hand pain, Kariโ€™s goal is always to restore confidence, independence, and function.

When Kari and her family relocated from Central California to Stephenville in 2021, she brought her hand therapy expertise with her and has been proudly serving patients throughout Erath County and the surrounding communities ever since. As our first Occupational Therapist, she expands the level of specialized care we are able to provide and helps us continue bridging the healthcare gap in rural communities.

Outside of the clinic, Kari and her family enjoy exploring the great state of Texas and spending time on their small family farm. Her husband is a local teacher, and their daughters stay busy with 4H, FFA, tennis, softball, music, and church youth activities. She values being part of a close-knit community and is proud to serve the place her family now calls home. โค๏ธ

Dry needling is an advanced treatment technique used to target tight, overactive muscle bands known as trigger points. These trigger points can limit mobility, refer pain to other areas of the body, and keep you stuck in a cycle of tension and discomfort. ๐Ÿ’ช

Using a very thin filament needle, our trained providers gently stimulate the affected muscle to create a brief โ€œtwitch response.โ€ That response helps the muscle relax, improves blood flow, and resets irritated pain signals. The goal is not just short-term relief, but restoring normal muscle function so your body can move with confidence again.

Dry needling focuses specifically on muscular dysfunction and movement limitations. It targets the source of tightness directly rather than simply managing symptoms. When a muscle is not firing properly or staying chronically tight, it can affect the way your entire body moves.

Some patients feel a quick twitch during treatment followed by relief. Mild soreness can happen, similar to post-workout fatigue, and typically resolves within 24 hours.
We often incorporate dry needling into a larger plan of care that includes hands-on therapy and corrective exercise ๐Ÿ‹๏ธ so the results translate into stronger, more efficient movement. It can be helpful for chronic muscle tightness, headaches, TMJ dysfunction, neck and back pain, sciatica, tendon irritation, plantar fasciitis, and stubborn injuries that are slow to resolve.

If you have been dealing with ongoing tightness or pain that just will not fully settle down, ask your therapist whether dry needling could support your recovery and help you move forward with more confidence. ๐Ÿ’™

A steady grip. A grounded step. A controlled stretch. These moments may look simple, but they represent strength being rebuilt and confidence returning. At DPT, every detail matters because every patient matters. ๐Ÿ’ช
