🌱 Recently, my private practice has seen an increase in calls from those feeling the strain of election stress and the intense overwhelming “fight-or-flight” response it can bring. This time of year can be especially hard as we process the challenges and uncertainty around us.

🧘‍♂️ Let’s all remember to prioritize self-care. Simple things like stepping away from the news, reconnecting with loved ones, or taking moments to breathe can help ground us. Trust that we’ll move forward, as individuals and as a community.

💙 If you’re feeling a sense of hopelessness, please don’t hesitate to seek professional help. Therapy can be a source of grounding and stability, and medication can be a valuable tool when needed. You don’t have to face this alone—support is available and makes a difference. The 988 HOTLINE is also available 24/7. Let’s take care of ourselves and each other.

INSIGHTS

Three things that get in the way of growth and healing:

1. Ego - the belief that your issues are unique and that no one else can relate.
2. Fear - the belief that nothing you do is going to work because what you are going through is catastrophic.
3. Pride - the belief that you are doing everything right and that the power to change things is in someone else’s hands.
