Unlike the hip joint, which possesses a deep ball and socket that provides inherent stability to reduce stress on the restraining ligaments, the knee is particularly prone to injury because the flatness of the tibial plateau provides little protection against excessive motion. This is particularly true when the knee approaches full extension, as the femoral condyles roll forward with little restraint....

In any given year, nearly 40% of senior citizens aged 70 and over will fall at least once. Each fall significantly increases the risk of not only sprains, strains, and contusions, but also fractures. The resultant injuries often begin a downward spiral of weakness and frailty. Putting aside the emotional toll of dealing with falls, the financial costs are staggering. In the US alone, the cost of providing healthcare for seniors following falls is roughly $30 billion annually....

The obturator internus muscle plays an important yet often overlooked role in the development of a range of musculoskeletal disorders, including pelvic floor and sciatic pain. This article provides a brief overview of obturator internus anatomy and discusses the important role the obturator internus muscle plays in the development of sciatica. While sciatica can be due to a wide range of conditions, such as herniated discs, spinal stenosis, piriformis syndrome, and/or trauma, contracture of the obturator internus muscle is rarely considered as a differential diagnosis....

You would think that the connection between hip arthritis and pain would be prettystraightforward: people with the greatest degree of arthritis as measured onx-rays should have the greatest amount of pain. Surprisingly, this is notalways the case as many people with severe arthritis are relativelyasymptomatic while people with slight arthritis present with disabling pain. In an attempt to understand exactly why an arthritic hip hurts,...

Every chiropractor knows that a strong, well-coordinated core is essential for maintaining spinal health. The core muscles work as a unit to increase intra-abdominal pressure providing just the right stiffness to unload the spine during lifting and loading tasks. Exercises such as side lying planks, bridges, bird-dogs, rollouts, and single-leg raises are prescribed to target the internal and external obliques, transverse abdominus, quadratus lumborum, and iliopsoas....

This is one of the latest questions I received from our running community, and it’s a good one! I’ve written extensively on how to return to running after meniscus surgery…but what about if you aren’t going to get surgery at all? Let’s start with the big FIRST question… Can runners recover from a meniscus injury without surgery? YES! More and more research is showing that active individuals can restore normal knee function without going under the knife....

“Pain is a part of life, but suffering is a choice.” The quote is a paraphrase that’s attributed to a guy folks look up to: the Buddha. Most people think of, and use, the quote in an existential way, not to deal with a sprained ankle or bum shoulder. But physical limitations often lead to an existential crisis. Feeling like we can’t move, like we’re limited…...

Gaining distance can be an important factor to improving your golf game.

Controlling your distances, one could argue, is even more important. Especially, when the majority of the shots you hit are inside 120 yards.

Today we took our to the range and practiced different wedge shots at different speeds.

You SHOULD NOT do golf performance training⁉️

If, playing multiple rounds throughout the season without soreness or pain, isn’t a priority.

This golfer has only been working with us for the last three months. Today during his session he said “I’ve played 21 rounds of golf in the last 22 days, and I feel great 😊”

This coming from a guy who would need to take a week off after back to back rounds.

Are you frustrated with the fact that you’re having to club up on all your iron shots⁉️

There’s certainly a time and place when the safe shot, is taking the higher club and making a 3/4 swing.

Having to club up and still make a full swing is another story. If you feel like you have to muscle your way around the course, that’s when the scores start going up.

The benefits of golf performance training is you don’t have to change your swing, you just have to change the way you train‼️

Struggling to get through 18 ⛳️without pain or tightness!?

One of the many reasons our golfers enjoy their programs, is the benefit of playing multiple rounds in a week, and not being limited by aches and pains.

We combine movements to better prepare our players so they can endure the lengthy season.

Rehab to performance‼️

One of the things we hear over and over again from patients, “I’m worried about re-injuring ____”

Many of these patients have tried physical therapy and chiropractic care in the past. They’ve even gotten better and even returned to the activities they once were missing out on.

However, somewhere down the road the same injury begins to reappear. They are left frustrated and question if they should just quit said activity all together.

When we ask if their past care progressed them from rehab exercises, to similar movements they do as part of their normal workout, the overwhelming response is, NO.

The only way we can assure if our care has made an improvement, is to gradually blend similar exercises and movements our patients will one day return to.
