PEATC online workshop on “Friendship Building Strategies” on Thursday, November 13th from 6:30 to 7:30pm. Friendships help children feel
connected and valued, but making friends can be hard for students with
disabilities and for peers who may feel unsure how to reach out. This
workshop will explore the challenges and importance of building positive
peer relationships. Participants will learn practical strategies parents
and educators can use to create opportunities for belonging, acceptance,
and genuine friendships for all children. This webinar will be presented on

Sensory friendly movie in Tyson’s Corner, VA on Sat, 11/8:

ASA Sensory Friendly Movie. Please join AMC Entertainment (AMC) and the Autism Society of America for “Back to the Future" on Saturday, November 8th starting at 10:55am at the AMC Tyson's Corner 16, 7850e Tyson's Corner Center, McLean, VA 22102. AMC Entertainment and the Autism Society have teamed up to bring families affected by autism and
other disabilities a special opportunity to enjoy new, current films in a safe and accepting environment on a monthly basis with the "Sensory Friendly Films" program. In order to provide a more accepting and comfortable setting for this unique audience, the movie auditoriums will have their lights brought up and the sound turned down. Families will be
able to bring in their own gluten-free, casein-free snacks, and no previews
or advertisements should be shown before the movie. Additionally, audience
members are welcome to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing - in other
words, AMC's "Silence is Golden" policy will not be enforced, unless the
safety of the audience is in question. More info and get tickets at

FCPS is offering a free 2E talk this Friday, 11/7: FCPS online workshop on “Listening Beyond Words: How to Hear
What Your 2E Child is Really Saying” on Friday, November 7th from 10 to
11:30am. Families will learn how to recognize and interpret the underlying
emotions, and needs behind their 2e child’s words and behaviors and
practice strategies to build trust and open communication at home. All
webinars are FREE to families, educators, and community members. This
