🌿 Muscle Tip Monday 🫀: Levator Scapulae (Neck Muscle) 🌿

The levator scapulae runs along the side and back of your neck and often gets tight from desk work or looking down at phones. When this muscle is tense, it can limit neck mobility and contribute to stiffness or tension headaches.

To stretch it, sit or stand tall and gently tilt your head toward one shoulder while looking slightly toward your armpit. Hold for 20–30 seconds and repeat on the other side. Repeat 2–3 times at least once a day to help relieve neck tension and improve range of motion.

Myth: All massages are the same

Truth: Every massage therapist is different—and so is every session.

Therapists choose their own training paths, and there are hundreds of classes with different approaches, techniques, and purposes. That means no two therapists work exactly the same way.

In Wisconsin, massage therapists are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education every two years. Personally, I complete around 30 hours each year—not just to meet requirements, but because I truly enjoy learning and continuing to elevate my skills.

This is why finding the *right* therapist for you makes all the difference.

Truth: Ticklishness is often just your nervous system being a little on edge. With the right pressure and slower, intentional work, that sensation usually fades pretty quickly.

Light touch tends to trigger ticklishness more than firm, steady pressure—so adjusting technique makes a big difference.

And just like everything else, your comfort comes first. If something feels too sensitive, we adjust.

🌿 Muscle Tip Monday 🫀: Temporalis & Masseter (Jaw Muscles) 🌿

Tension in the jaw muscles can lead to headaches, jaw pain, and even neck stiffness. Massage and gentle release of the jaw help reduce clenching and support overall relaxation.

To stretch these muscles, place your fingers at the top of your ear and move slightly forward, staying on the scalp—not the face. Use gentle pressure to anchor the scalp in place. While holding the scalp firm to the skull, gently press upward toward the ceiling, dragging the skin up, and slowly open your mouth all the way. You’ll feel a gentle stretch in your scalp. Hold for 10 seconds and repeat 3 times.
