🩵 Yesterday we talked about sleep.
The day before, we talked about anxiety.
And it’s no surprise these two overlap so much.

Anxiety can make it hard to fall asleep, stay asleep, or get restful sleep. Poor sleep, in turn, raises stress hormones and makes anxiety louder the next day. It’s a cycle many of us know all too well!

A few more things to think about:

🕰 Circadian rhythm – our internal clock thrives on consistency. Irregular bedtimes, late nights, or too much light at night can throw it off.
🛌 Sleep hygiene – screens before bed, late meals, alcohol, or a noisy environment can all interfere with quality sleep.
🏃 Exercise – regular movement helps regulate stress and improves sleep, but intense workouts too late in the evening can be stimulating.
☕ Caffeine – even that “early afternoon coffee” can linger in the body for hours and quietly increase anxiety and sleep disruption.
🧘 Mindfulness & relaxation practices – breathing exercises, meditation, body scans, or gentle stretching help calm the nervous system and signal safety to the brain.

So what can we do to help?

✔ Keep consistent sleep and wake times
✔ Get morning light and reduce bright light at night
✔ Limit caffeine (especially after lunch)
✔ Move your body regularly/exercise
✔ Build a calming wind-down routine

Cannabinoids like CBN and THC can be used as natural tools to promote relaxation, reduce nighttime restlessness, and support a full night's sleep. Everyone responds differently, so we always recommend starting low, going slow, and paying attention to your body.

This evening, let’s talk about sleep and sleep anxiety. 🌙

So many people struggle not just with getting sleep, but with the stress about not sleeping. That cycle alone can keep your nervous system stuck in “on” mode.

Here’s a few common things that often interfere with sleep:

• Hormonal changes, especially menopause, can cause night sweats, racing thoughts, and frequent waking
• Medications — even some meant to help — can disrupt our sleep cycles
• Alcohol, while it may help you fall asleep, often leads to poor-quality sleep and early waking
• Screen time before bed (blue light + mental stimulation) keeps the brain alert
• Caffeine, it can linger much longer than many people realize

The good news? There are things that may help support better sleep and ease sleep anxiety:

• Magnesium can help relax muscles and calm the nervous system
• CBD, CBN, and THC can help support relaxation and deeper rest
• White noise or sound machines can reduce nighttime awakenings and quiet a busy mind
• Essential oils like lavender and chamomile can create a calming bedtime routine
• Functional mushrooms like reishi and lion’s mane may help regulate stress, support the nervous system, and promote more restful sleep

You see, sleep isn’t about forcing rest, it’s about creating safety and calm for your body and mind to let go. You have to be gentle with yourself!

💭 Let’s Talk About Anxiety

Anxiety can show up in so many ways—racing thoughts, tight chest, nausea, poor sleep, irritability, or just feeling “on edge.” And while stress is a big factor, everyday habits matter more than we realize.

☕ Caffeine & Anxiety
Caffeine can be a major trigger for anxiety. It stimulates the nervous system, increases heart rate, and can make anxious thoughts feel louder and harder to control. It also disrupts sleep, and poor sleep only makes anxiety worse.
Personally? I can’t have caffeine after noon anymore 😅 — otherwise I just don't get any quality sleep!

😴 And sleep Is Non-Negotiable!
Lack of quality sleep throws off mood, focus, and stress hormones. When sleep suffers, anxiety often follows. Cutting back on caffeine and supporting better rest can make a huge difference.

📱 Constant stimulation & screen time
Being “always on” — nonstop notifications, scrolling, and information overload — keeps the brain in a heightened state of alert. This can make it harder to relax, unwind, and feel calm, especially before bed. Try turning everything off 30 minutes before bed, you'll be surprised by how much it helps!

🧠 Other Ways to Help Manage Anxiety
• Movement & fresh air – even a short walk can lower stress hormones and calm the mind
• Breathing & mindfulness – slowing your breath helps signal your nervous system that you’re safe
