Vidor, TX - A typical Tuesday lunch at Oak Forest Elementary in Vidor, Texas, turned into a life-saving moment thanks to the quick thinking of 7-year-old Bryson Campbell.
When Bryson's friend tapped him on the shoulder, unable to breathe and gasping for air, the young student didn't panic. Remembering the safety tips his mom taught him at home, Bryson jumped into action and delivered several firm back pats. Within moments, the food was dislodged and his friend could breathe again!
Teachers arrived to find the situation already under control. Bryson's mother, Alisha, says she taught her family basic lifesaving skills-proving that you're never too young to learn how to save a life. The American Red Cross honored Bryson with a special pin this week, and he even scored a free Dairy Queen treat for his bravery!
Bryson's advice for everyone? "Just always pay attention." Let's give a huge round of applause for this local hero! Let this be a reminder of how important it is to talk to our kids about what to do in an emergency.
