🌨️ Weather Update 🌨️

I’ll keep these updates coming as often as I see moderate to significant changes — so get ready, because we’re entering that “eyes on the radar” phase of the forecast.

🌧️ Let’s talk about SLEET 🌧️
It’s looking likely that we’ll see some sleet before any snowfall. Late Friday morning into the early afternoon, we’re expecting sprinkles (not the sweet kind) mixed with sleet. As of now, snowfall isn’t expected to begin until around 2:00 PM.

❓So what does sleet mean for us ❓
Sleet creates that slick base layer, and the first few flakes of snow tend to melt on contact, which only adds to that slippery surface. It will take the temperature falling before snow starts to accumulate.

🤔 What can we do?
âś… Take it slow if you must be on the road
✅ Give yourself extra time to get where you’re going
âś… Leave plenty of space between you and other vehicles
âś… Keep roadways as clear as possible so emergency vehicles can move safely throughout the county

Stay weather aware, stay patient, and stay safe out there.

We will be keeping our eyes on the radar and out in the community as needed during this weather event.

Your muscles clear glucose in two different ways after a meal.
Most people only use one.

When you sit after eating, glucose disposal depends almost entirely on insulin signaling from the pancreas. That pathway works, but it has limited capacity, which is why post-meal glucose spikes are higher and longer.

When you move after eating, even lightly, a second pathway turns on in parallel.

Muscle contraction independently activates glucose transporters (GLUT4), allowing glucose to enter muscle without waiting for insulin. The result is faster clearance, lower peaks, and less strain on the pancreas.

What’s happening under the hood:
• Muscle contraction triggers GLUT4 translocation
• Glucose enters muscle directly
• Blood glucose falls more quickly
• Insulin demand is reduced, not replaced

This isn’t about burning calories or “earning” food. It’s about using the physiology you already have. Walking after meals doesn’t override insulin. It adds another clearance pathway.

That’s why timing matters.
