Cupping isn’t one-size-fits-all. Different techniques are used depending on the goal:
• Fire Cupping: Traditional glass cups are briefly heated to create suction
• Pump / Vacuum Cupping: Modern cups allow precise control of pressure
• Static Cupping: Cups are placed and left in one spot
• Sliding Cupping: Cups glide over tissue to improve circulation and fascia mobility
• Dynamic (Active) Cupping: Client actively contracts the targeted muscle under the cup, enhancing activation, fascia release, and functional movement
• Other types of cupping: flash cupping, wet cupping, and lymphatic cupping
Dynamic cupping creates more functional, lasting results by actively engaging muscles and surrounding tissues rather than passively lifting them.
🚩 If a practitioner ever leaves the room while cups are on you, find a new practitioner. Seriously! That is a big NO NO.
In my clinical massage sessions, dynamic cupping is often paired with the Amethyst Far Infrared + PEMF mat and, at Hudson, an optional far infrared sauna for deeper tissue release, improved circulation, and enhanced nervous system regulation.
If you have tried PT, Chiro, and relaxation massage with little to no progress, then go to amethysthealingandwellness.com to book yourself a Clinical Massage session where we seek the root cause and address it, vs slapping a temporary bandaid.
