Constantly reaching for water? 🚰 An ongoing increase in thirst can be more than just a need for hydration- It could indicate metabolic syndrome, a condition where elevated blood sugar makes your kidneys work harder, leading to more frequent urination and dehydration. Monitoring these signs is key for early detection and management of potential health risks.

The relationship between sleep and metabolic health is complex and multifaceted. Poor sleep quality and insufficient sleep duration have been linked to increased risks of obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. This is partly because sleep deprivation affects the body's ability to process glucose efficiently, leading to impaired insulin sensitivity.

Have you noticed if your A1c is higher in the winter months vs. the summer months? Pops Self-Care Platform provides an estimated A1c, allowing users to see how their A1c might change throughout the year.

On average, individuals with diabetes notice an increase in their A1c during the colder months. There are a few reasons why the drop in temperature might lead to an increase in your blood sugar:
1. Cold temps make it challenging to keep up with regular physical activity; not keeping up with regular physical activity could result in an increase of insulin resistance.

2. It's cold and flu season, and viral infections can increase blood sugar levels. If you're feeling sick, it's important to check your blood sugar more often.

3. The cold slows down your bloodstream, which disrupts the distribution of insulin in the body.
