Services Include:

Counseling & Therapy, where we provide care to adults, adolescents, children, families, and couples. Our counselors are highly trained and experienced in their areas of expertise and truly enjoy helping people through the struggles they bring to counseling. Counselors provide a safe and open environment to make changes within areas of concern. Counseling experiences are unique to each person as are their situations. There is no “one fits all” in counseling and our skilled clinicians work with you to reach your goals. Counseling topics range from anxiety and depression, to supporting a child through divorce and more. FamilyMeans Counseling & Therapy programs are located in St. Paul, at the Center for Grief & Loss, in schools throughout the St. Croix Valley, and outpatient clinics in Stillwater and Hudson. We accept many insurances, including Medical Assistance and Medicare (limited providers), we also offer payment plans as needed. Caregiving & Aging program support caregivers who provide care to a child or adult who has health or independence needs. Some caregivers assist with daily living necessities, while others provide occasional care or are concerned from afar. Caregivers may offer social and emotional support, handle finances, prepare meals, manage medications, provide transportation, or assist with personal care. Each situation is different. FamilyMeans Caregiving and Aging staff helps caregivers with their unique caregiving challenges. We do this by offering support groups, coaching, respite care, and more! Financial Solutions offers tools and education for people to regain financial stability and reduce unmanageable debt. Financial Solutions serves individuals and families in Minnesota and Wisconsin through budget and debt counseling, debt management program, credit report review, student loan counseling, and financial education. Youth Development serves youth ages 5-18 in the Cimarron manufactured home community in Lake Elmo and the city of Landfall, both eastern suburbs in the Saint Paul/Minneapolis region. Our free, year-round programming equips youth to learn, thrive, connect and contribute throughout their lives. Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a contracted service by an employer and offered as a benefit to its employees. It is designed to assist an employee in managing the impact of personal and work-related challenges that affect overall well-being and, inevitably, on-the-job performance. Services available to employees include:

We’re so proud of Heidi Ricks, our Dementia Coordinator, for representing FamilyMeans on the national stage this week at the American Society on Aging Conference.

Heidi joined Community Care Corps and fellow grantees to highlight how volunteer‑driven dementia empowerment services are changing lives here in Minnesota and across the country. Her session sparked meaningful conversations about what’s possible when communities come together to support older adults, caregivers, and those living with memory loss.

At FamilyMeans, volunteers are at the heart of this work. From weekly Community Connection outings to in‑home respite visits, their steady presence helps reduce isolation, promote dignity, and give caregivers the breathing room they deserve.

We’re grateful to Community Care Corps for uplifting this work — and grateful to Heidi for sharing the stories and successes behind it.🎉

Earth Day is a global reminder to protect our planet and care for the natural resources that support all life. It highlights the importance of environmental responsibility so future generations can enjoy a healthy, sustainable Earth. 🌍

Today, FamilyMeans staff will be spending time collecting trash around our building and the ponds where numerous wildlife reside. Small actions make a big difference!
