‼️Veronica Cannot Keep Waiting‼️ 295 Days in Boarding! 💔
Sometimes we do not know why certain dogs get overlooked. We are posting Veronica every Friday until she finds a happy home!

Veronica has been in boarding for 295 days....almost an entire year. She has watched dogs come and go and keeps waiting patiently for her turn.🥺

She did not arrive at Animal Aid of Tulsa with any luck on her side. She was dumped at Jenks Animal Control in horrifying condition, suffering from one of the worst cases of mastitis the vet had ever seen. It had ruptured and abscessed, leaving a hole in her mammary gland. There was no guarantee she would survive. It was expensive. It was frightening. The outcome was completely uncertain.

But Veronica fought and she healed!
She spent a month in the hospital. She wagged her tail through painful bandage changes and somehow, through everything, she remained sweet, goofy, and full of love.🐶🥰

She had a foster lined up but that home fell through. And ever since March, we have tried and tried to find her another chance at a couch, a soft bed, a person, someone. Anyone? But no luck.

We do not understand why she is still waiting😩
Veronica is:
• Friendly with every person she meets
• Wonderful with children, though she can be rambunctious so slightly older kids are ideal
• Excited to play with other dogs and eager to belong
• A little shy in the very beginning but she warms quickly and becomes devoted and silly and affectionate

Boarding is wearing her down. She is doing her best to remain hopeful. But dogs are not built for this kind of limbo. She needs a home or at least a foster to remind her that she matters and that her story is worth finishing. 🏡

We are asking with urgency and honesty.
Is there someone who can take her in?
Even temporarily?
A foster home costs you nothing but space and compassion.

Animal Aid of Tulsa provides all supplies and veterinary care. What she needs from a human is simply a place to rest and someone to care that she exists.
If you have ever thought, “I wish I could help,”
this is the moment when it truly changes a life.
Please reach out to Animal Aid of Tulsa today. Veronica has endured the hardest chapter of her life already.

Some of the best Christmases are the ones that go completely off the rails.

Night before last, I was peacefully watering my plants — living my best Hallmark-movie life — when I dropped one of my largest, most beloved plants directly onto my big toe. The toe survived (barely). The plant did not. RIP, sweet friend. 🌿🪦

Christmas Eve, we made 42 of Peggy’s Enchiladas.
And if you know, you know.
They were delicious… except JB added his “own little touch,” which means they tasted absolutely nothing like Peggy’s. 😂 A bold choice. A brave man.

Then, as I was actively eating said enchiladas, my front tooth — which is a bridge — fell out of my mouth. Just… left. Mid-chew. 🦷🤣
If you know anything about my mom and my relationship during the last years of her life, you’ll understand that she is STILL getting her licks in from the other side. Love you, Mom. Really committed to the bit.

To say our family Christmas photos are EPIC is an understatement.
Some might say chaotic.
Others might say cursed.
I say iconic.

We also bought our Christmas tree late this year and decided it was probably not safe to bring into the house, so we decorated it and put it on the front porch instead.
Hillbilly style. ✨🎄✨
Honestly? It felt right.

And after all of that — the toe, the plant, the enchiladas, the tooth, the porch tree, and whatever spiritual warfare was happening — I can honestly say…

It was one of the best Christmases we’ve ever had.
Because sometimes joy looks less like perfection and more like laughing so hard you forget your front tooth fell out.

There was no rush that day.
Just boots on dry winter grass, the soft crunch of leaves, and the quiet hum of being exactly where we were meant to be.

We wandered through the edges of the woods, hands full of found treasures—pine, cedar, seed pods, bits of winter still holding their scent. The kind of gathering that doesn’t take, only borrows. The kind that feels old and right.

Little footsteps followed close behind, curious and determined, pausing to examine sticks and leaves as if they were the most important discoveries of all. Dogs roamed freely ahead, noses to the ground, carrying on their own joyful business. Laughter floated easily between us, warmed by familiar voices and long friendships—some newly reunited, some steady and constant.

People we love, gathered from near and far, crossing paths for just a moment in time. A gift in itself.

By the end of the walk, all we had to show for it was a small bundle of greenery—nothing fancy, just sweet-smelling and handmade. Something simple to hang on the door. Something that would quietly remind us, every time we came home, of this day.

Of fresh air and full hearts.
Of togetherness.
Of the quiet magic that lives in December when you slow down enough to notice it.

Our Story

Red Earth Yoga Center (REYC) is a yoga studio dedicated to the transformative and healing practice of yoga, something that I have been fortunate enough to experience first hand. Years ago, I found myself in a highly competitive industry facing seemingly relentless obstacles. To succeed often meant grueling hours, mind-blowing legalities, and high end stakes. There was simply no room for error. The stress was enormous, but so were the benefits. It was a business that afforded me the ability to make my own hours so that I (or my husband) could be home with our children. As a mother and wife, I was overwhelmed, struggling for that elusive balance between a profitable career and a happy home life. The struggle was REAL! I began looking for healthy ways to DE-STRESS! I had always been active. Ballet, dance, and gymnastics were an integral part of my early years, and of course as adults we had the gym memberships which were used heavily at the beginning of each year, and then slowly waned as we rolled into the summer months. We lived in Florida so there were always walks on the beach, swimming, surfing, fishing, boating and other outdoor activities. I loved rollerblading, playing racquetball, and even ran marathons, but other than dance and gymnastics, nothing ever really felt like it was "my thing." That is, until I walked in to my first yoga class. I was desperate for peace, tired of running, both literally and figuratively. I will never forget the feeling I had leaving class that day. Although I had never done yoga before, I felt like I had "come home." There was something so familiar, and right, and sacred about it. I knew intuitively, at THAT moment, that my body and mind and spirit needed healing and that THIS practice would be the answer. I knew that instead of running away, (from life and all of its complexities) that I needed to slow down, stop even, and pay attention to that "still small voice" inside of me that said " if you don't take care of you, you can't take care of them." My family needed me to be healthy! I knew I needed work! I was always so concerned about their health that I often neglected my own. I began diligently going to yoga practice, sometimes twice a day. My body, my mind and my spirit thirsted for it, and I soaked it up like a sponge. I found peace through yoga. I found healing through yoga. I reconnected (and still do) to the One who created me, through Yoga. It sounds simple, doesn't it? Trust me, it wasn't. It didn't happen overnight, and there are still things that stress me out and make me angry. I'm human. But I am a much more peaceful person than I was back in those difficult times. I now know how to manage stress and how to treat my body like the holy vessel it is. I am healthy. I am fit. I am stronger than I have ever been and it is all because of Yoga. Yoga has taught me so much on this journey and I want nothing more than to share it all with you! Yoga CAN change your life. All you have to do is begin.

At Red Earth Yoga Center, we practice Vinyasa, Hatha & Ashtanga Style Yoga. Most (but not all) of our classes are heated in a studio to 85-90 degrees. The warmth helps you sustain a healthy amount of sweat which is a natural detox for the body, and also helps to build flexibility. The warmth helps to gently reduce tension and safely raises your heartbeat. Always remember that warm muscles mean a safer practice. All of our classes are non-competitive. We offer powerful flows for those that like the intensity, as well as slower, softer practice that don't require so much energy. Our classes are casual and friendly, (we don't care what you wear and don't believe there is such a thing as a "Yoga Body. Yoga is for EVERY body, regardless of shape, size, or color. Be happy in the skin you are in! Be confident that the teaching at Red Earth Yoga Center is that of QUALITY. Our Instructors are Certified and Registered through Yoga Alliance.
