We’re so grateful for the incredible support we’ve received so far for our House-Warming Drive celebrating the newest graduate of our Transitional Living Program! Your generosity is helping set this young adult up with the household essentials that make a new apartment feel like home and give them the stability to thrive as they step out on their own.

As we get closer to the House Warming Celebration, we’re making one final push for anyone who would still like to contribute. We’re still hoping to round out a few items from the graduate’s wish list:

🧦 Long/horizontal dresser (new or gently used)
🧼Hygiene Supplies
🧽Cleaning Supplies

Every donation, big or small, truly makes a difference. If you’d like to help, items can still be dropped off at PCYS. Everything will be presented to the graduate during a private celebration honoring their hard work and success.

Most youth do not become homeless by choice. The causes are complex and not due to a single incident or issue. Many different factors contribute to the youth experiencing homelessness, including poverty, gaps in foster care, neglect at home, lack of affordable housing and racial discrimination.

As a nationwide effort, Youth HOPE Month aims to raise awareness about the root causes of youth homelessness and the critical role communities play in supporting these young people. PCYS is proud to provide counseling services, an emergency youth shelter, prevention and education services, a Transitional Living Program, and so much more to runaway and homeless youth in Payne County.

How do you support runaway and homeless youth? Use this commitment card and share how you make a difference for our community.

Every young person deserves to feel safe, supported, and hopeful about their future. The Safe Place program helps make that possible by connecting youth in crisis to immediate help and safety.

Safe Place is a national outreach and prevention initiative that partners with local businesses, libraries, fire stations, YMCAs, public buses, and other community spaces — turning them into safe havens where young people can get help 24/7.

If you see the yellow and black Safe Place sign, know that it represents a network of caring people ready to listen, support, and connect youth with the resources they need. 💚

Let’s spread awareness this month — share this message, learn about Safe Place sites in your area, and help make our community a safer place for every young person.

📢Youth homelessness is a public health issue impacting more than 4 million young people between the ages of 13 and 25 in the United States each year. Young people experiencing homelessness may couch surf, bounce among relatives and friends, live in shelters, or sleep on the streets, and many struggle to afford food, care for their mental and physical health, attend and complete school, and avoid potentially dangerous and violent situations.

💚This November, we’re proud to support Youth Homelessness Outreach, Prevention, and Education (HOPE) Month, a public awareness campaign designed to raise awareness of youth homelessness and the importance of preventing and reducing factors contributing to runaway incidents and youth homelessness. Let’s show young people they’re not alone and there are available resources to help them thrive.

We’re starting a new tradition for graduates of our Transitional Living Program who sign their own lease when they leave TLP: A House-Warming Drive!

Help us celebrate our most recent graduate by donating household supplies to stock them up for months to come! Having a stock of these kinds of items can free-up income for food, rent, and bills, and increase overall stability for a young person who is branching out on their own.

We’ve also asked the graduate for 3 wish-list items and this young adult is hoping for:

🍲a large crock pot
🥣matching dishes and flatware
🧦a long/horizontal dresser (new or gently used)

Items may be dropped off or shipped to PCYS by November 17 and will be presented to the graduate at a private reception.
