Message from the CEO of SHAW 4 Community
The state of our city’s health and wellbeing weighs heavily on my heart today.
Last night’s senseless act of violence, a mass shooting in Stockton that harmed children, is yet another devastating reminder of how deeply our community is hurting.
At SHAW 4 Community, we know that violence is not just a public safety issue, it is a public health issue. It is a symptom of unaddressed trauma, chronic stress, lack of access to wellness resources, and the emotional and mental strain so many families in our city experience every single day.
This tragedy is exactly why we fight so hard for holistic health and wellness in Stockton.
Why we advocate for safe spaces.
Why we create programs rooted in healing, connection, and belonging.
Why we focus on underserved communities who are disproportionately impacted by trauma and violence.
Our mission is not just to promote fitness or nutrition, it is to transform lives.
To address trauma with compassion.
To build environments where our children feel safe, valued, and supported.
To remind our community that healing is possible, and that healthier communities are safer communities.
We extend our heartfelt prayers to the families affected. And we reaffirm our commitment to being a catalyst for change through advocacy, education, community engagement, and trauma-informed wellness programs.
Stockton deserves a future where safety, healing, and opportunity are not privileges, but rights.
Our children deserve to grow up in communities that protect them, uplift them, and allow them to thrive.
SHAW 4 Community will continue doing the work with intention, with compassion, and with the unwavering belief that together, we can build a healthier, safer, and more resilient Stockton.
