HOPE is a support group for the family members of someone who has an addiction of drugs or alcohol.
Because an addiction not only affects the person doing drugs or drinking the alcohol, but it also affects the ones forgotten about, the family members and people who love and care about them.
More times than not, when people find out your family member has an addiction, they will judge and criticize you for the actions of your loved one. They sometimes don’t understand what you face and go through mentally.
Some examples are:
- always on edge, worrying if your loved on is okay.
- wondering if/when you will get a call that your loved one has overdosed and/or passed.
-worrying that they will harm themself or someone else.
-if they are eating or sleeping or if they are out in the cold/rain/snow.
-often you feel alone not knowing if there is anyone who understands and won’t judge you for not giving up on the one you love and care about.
Those are just a few of the things you, as the family members and loved ones of the addicted, go through mentally and physically as mentally alike.
HOPE will be a support group for the family members and loved ones to come together and support each other.
A place where:
- We can come together and pray for each other and our family members. The bible says: “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am with them.” Matthew 18:20.
-A family member can come and find resources and information needed on the steps to take to help their loved one go to rehab.
- To find help paying rehab fees, gas, or transportation to get their loved one to rehab.
- A clothes closet will be provided for the people going into or coming out of rehab who need clothes, personal hygiene items, and supplies like bibles and stationery items.
Not only does the person battling the disease of addiction need healing, we as their family and loved ones need healing as well.
HOPE will have support group meetings every two weeks. We will open with prayer and share devotions, then share our stories and testimony if we feel led.
The main goal of HOPE is for people to come together and support one another, and know as the family members and loved ones of someone battling addiction, we are NOT alone and together we can heal with the help of our Father God!
What is impossible to man is possible through God!
We have mentors and ministers of all ages, men, women, boys and girls whom are willing to talk with you and pray for you. Because we know even children are affected by addiction.
