​Chinese practitioners were among the first to document spinal manipulation.
​The Kong Fou Document: One of the oldest known medical texts (dating back over 4,000 years) describes various forms of "manipulation" and "moving joints" to restore health.
​The Concept: It was based on the flow of Qi (energy). If the spine or joints were "blocked," the energy couldn't flow, leading to disease.

​Known as the "First Lady of Chiropractic," Mabel also graduated in 1905 (the same year as Dr. Abbott). She is one of the most influential figures in the profession's history.
​Key Achievement: She wrote the first anatomy textbook specifically for chiropractic students (Anatomy, 1918) and taught the subject for over 40 years.
​Legacy: She founded Sigma Phi Chi, the world’s first chiropractic sorority, to support women entering the field.
