Last month the Stonington K-12 Building Committee did walk/roll throughs of the 2 middle school sites. This month we are doing a walk/roll through of the high school so that we all have the best possible understanding of what's working and what isn't. I suspect that next month we will try to do some other SPS buildings, too.

This is a super important part of our work, as it will help us create the best possible set of recommendations for our facilities plan. Not only figuring out the most responsible plan right now, but what's going to serve the students, faculty, and taxpayers 10, 20, 30 years from now.

I've been super busy lately, and a lot of that work has been doing pride planning! Yeah, already!

More details to come as things start to come together, but suffice it to say that this year is going to be even more fabulous than any year before. It's going to be SO WONDERFUL and I cannot wait!

If you want to get involved, I happen to know that Stonington Pride will need some day-of volunteers for the myriad of events that June will hold (and other wonderful events they are spearheading). They have a volunteer application in the link in bio!

You may or may not remember that last year I was appointed as a Justice of the Peace! It was such an honour.

I've been an ordained minister since 2020 and have officiated a few weddings, but am super excited to do even more! Especially q***r weddings. So if you're looking to get hitched and want a beautiful, authentic, one-of-a-kind ceremony, hit me up!

I'm really thrilled that Stonington Pride is once again doing their Trans Day of Visibility Open Mic event in collaboration with Bank Square Books (Tuesday, March 31, 5pm).

But this year, we're doing even more!
A call for artists for a week-long visual arts display for trans artists to display their TDOV 2D, 3D, and written art (March 28-April 3) at Bank Square Books. If you'd like to display your art, please apply at https://bit.ly/sp-art-outlasts (link in bio & Stonington Pride's bio)

Every week I try and call my legislators about something that matters to me.

This week I called about opposing a nationwide book ban bill. You read that right. Instead of doing literally anything about the Epstein files, the House Republicans are trying to "Stop the Sexualization of Children" via H.R. 7661, a bill that would block funding to schools/programs that provide access to "sexually oriented material" to people under the age of 18.

How is this a book ban, you ask? Because while it defines "sexually oriented material" as "n**e adults, individuals who are stripping, or lewd or lascivious dancing" it also lumps in anything that addresses gender, specifically "gender dysphoria or transgenderism." The bill makes a few exceptions for certain "classic" works of art/literature, but all exceptions are on four lists, two which are created by a homeschooling company focused on teaching "a Biblical worldview."

Look, access to literature, art, and information is a basic right. Book bans and government censorship has no place in a free society. What the heck is happening?!

SO, I called my congressman and asked him to STRONGLY oppose this bill, as well as support HR 6440 instead. HR 6440, The Right To Read Act would fund education and increase student literacy nationwide.

I encourage you to call your legislators about this issue as well. Let them know how YOU feel. If that feels overwhelming, check out the free app 5 Calls . It makes a huge difference.
