We honor the legacy of Dr. William Augustus Hinton. Born to former slaves, Dr. William Augustus Hinton (1883-1959) invented the Hinton Test for diagnosing syphilis in 1927, and authored "Syphilis and Its Treatment", the first clinical textbook written by a black physician.
