At The Speech Language Place, our mission is to help children and adults learn the communication skills they need for all environments and communication partners. Our therapy starts in a clinical setting and strives to reach beyond to ensure a level of successful communication and understanding in the home, office, school and social environments. We at The Speech Language Place recognize how frustrating it can be when communication is difficult. Our staff provides caring, compassionate, individualized therapy built on evidence-based techniques. We listen to and learn about the wants and needs of our clients and family members, ensuring our therapy goals match their expectations.

Most children say their first meaningful word around 12 months (though anywhere from 9–15 months can be typical). These early words might be names for favorite people, foods, or objects and they mark the beginning of intentional communication.

Every child develops at their own pace, but if you have questions about your little one’s speech and language, we’re here to help support those first words and everything that follows 💛
