❤️ As Heart Failure Awareness Week wraps up, we’re shining a light on a powerful option in modern heart failure care. A Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) is a life-changing technology that supports your heart by helping it pump blood forward. An LVAD can help people live longer, fuller lives when medications alone are no longer enough. 📹: https://bit.ly/4tSXpKy

National Girls & Women in Sports Day celebrates the power of mentorship and representation. 💪🏽🏃‍♀️

At Stony Brook, we’re proud to have the largest group of female orthopedic surgeons in Suffolk County, many of whom were high school and collegiate athletes themselves. Our sports medicine physicians, physician assistants, and athletic trainers mentor girls interested in sports medicine careers through hands-on workshops and real-world training.

This work is rooted in the mission of the Women’s Sports Medicine Center, the first of its kind in Suffolk County. The center focuses on treating and preventing sports and exercise-related injuries in girls and women through a multidisciplinary approach - led by a mostly female team of experts who understand athletes because they’ve been there themselves. From mentorship to medicine, it’s about representation, leadership, and opening doors - on the field and in the world of medicine. 🩺⚽️ https://bit.ly/4qefLCJ

Another incredible Nursing Career Expo in the books! 📚 Pathways to Care is an annual event hosted by our Talent Acquisition and Nursing teams, designed to give soon-to-be RNs, LPNs and CNAs a transparent look at the many pathways into a career at Stony Brook Medicine.

This year, we connected with hundreds of students eager to learn about clinical roles, professional development opportunities and how to position themselves early for success. Through networking, breakout sessions and conversations with leaders and recruiters across our hospitals, students gained real insight into what it takes to build a meaningful career in healthcare. Pathways to Care is about access, education and opportunity, meeting future healthcare professionals where they are and helping them see what’s possible.

Our healthcare heroes always SHOW UP! Thank you to our incredible community. ❤️
