Congratulations to Stony Brook University Hospital's Volunteer of the Year, Timothy Lavopa! 🎉

Timothy began volunteering with our Child Life Department in 2025, dedicating over 150 hours to supporting pediatric patients and their families. A former patient in our hematology/oncology unit, Timothy’s journey with Stony Brook Medicine has come full circle. After bravely and successfully completing cancer treatment, he joined the Stony Brook Children’s Hospital Youth Advisory Council to help enhance the patient experience through meaningful, patient-centered initiatives.

Inspired by his own experience, Timothy is now pursuing a career focused on improving the lives of pediatric patients and has been accepted into a Master’s in Child Life program. Congratulations, Timothy! And thank you for all that you do! ❤️
