What is Gestalt Language Processing?

Gestalt language processing is a language learning style where children first learn and use large “chunks” of language — like full phrases or scripts from shows, songs, or routines — instead of single words. Over time, with the right support, they break these phrases into smaller pieces and eventually combine words in flexible, original ways. Understanding this style helps SLPs tailor therapy to meet a child exactly where they are.
