We have a few remaining openings in the Stony Brook University Mind Body Center training clinic for both CBT and DBT therapy services for teens and adults. Services are available via telehealth (NYS residents) or face to face.

We offer specialized treatments including trauma focused treatments (TF-CBT, CPT, PE, WET), ExRP, CBIT, DBT, and ACT. We also have therapists specialized in the treatment of co-occurring mental and physical health problems.

Services are out of pocket on a sliding scale $45-65 and all of our therapists are masters level or higher doctoral or social work students with exceptional training and supervision from leading experts in the field.

We all know how hard getting access to care can be and this is the rare time of year I get to say –send them our way, we have immediate openings! 631-632-8657, MindBody@stonybrookmedicine.edu

Did you know our very own Dr. Mahaffey is a certified DBT therapist? DBT is an effective treatment for helping people cope with intense emotions, suicidal thoughts, and other problematic behaviors. Hope you're all building a life worth living!

This , meet Dr. Brittain Mahaffey, PhD! Brittain is Dialectical Behvaior Therapy Program Director and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, NY.

Brittain received her DBT-LBC certification in May of 2021. When asked why she sought DBT certification through DBT-LBC, Brittain said, “Therapy is an intimate experience; you’re looking for someone you know you can trust from the get-go. The DBT-LBC certification is a sign of a caring, committed therapist who has the skills to help you build a life worth living.”

Thank you for your commitment to practicing and teaching DBT, Brittain!
