Secondary school update!! Our students have started their shopping with Millicent and are starting their classes! This is so exciting! Many students, especially Deaf students in Kenya never have the opportunity to go to high school due to school fees and the required materials they have to bring. We are elated to bring this opportunity to our students and give them continued educational opportunities.

Last week, we joyfully welcomed back so many students! It has been incredible to see them eager to learn. They were smiling, reconnecting, and truly loving being back “home” together. Millicent also had the opportunity to interview several students with disabilities from a nearby village who are now able to attend the new special needs classroom within our school. This classroom is for students who do not have another place to go in other schools. We are thrilled to welcome them into the school community and so excited to see them learning and growing alongside their peers.

We are SO proud of our students going to high school! However, we have a problem! The list our students need to go to high school for the first time is a HUGE expense! We like to be able to be transparent to all our donors! This is a calling letter where all our students have been placed in different tracks, like STEM, art, and vocational classes. Each student needs a mattress, uniforms, basic needs covered, girls even need to bring their own sanitary napkins! We have one student who has no sponsorship at all, and we would love to be able to send her with her friends. If you would like to help offset the costs for these students, please click the donate button, or visit www.heartsthathear.org to help!

For the past three years, sixth-grade students at Lake George Elementary School () have had the opportunity to become pen pals with students at B.L. Tezza School for the Deaf. This cultural exchange highlights both the differences and the many similarities between the students, like a shared love of soccer and arts and crafts. We are always excited to deliver their letters, share photos, and talk about the important work being done in Kenya. This year, students even got a taste of authentic mandazi, making the experience even more memorable and bringing the connection to life in a special way.

With heavy hearts, we share that despite every effort, baby Steven experienced complications with his shunt, developed a fever, and was called home to be with the Lord early this morning. Our hearts are broken for his family as they walk through this unimaginable loss.

We trust that God is holding baby Steven in His loving arms and surrounding his family with peace that surpasses all understanding. During this time of deep grief, we would like to help ease their burden by assisting with funeral and burial expenses.

If you feel led to give, donations may be made to baby Steven’s funeral fund at www.heartsthathear.org. Above all, we ask that you please keep this family in your prayers.

From all of us at Hearts That Hear, we wish you a happy and healthy New Year!

We have exciting plans ahead for 2026, and we can’t wait to share what’s coming. First and foremost, we hope to see more of our students sponsored so they can continue their education without the worry of school fees. When you sponsor a student, you support not just one child, but the entire school community.

In the last month, Alvox, Navasha, Darling, and Judith have each lost their sponsorships. For many children, that might mean a temporary setback. For Deaf children in underserved communities, it can mean the difference between continuing school or being sent home. Sponsorship through Hearts that Hear is not just financial support, it is access. It provides school fees, uniforms, meals, learning materials, and most importantly, continued education in an environment where Deaf children are seen, valued, and able to communicate through sign language. Without sponsorship, these basic supports disappear. For just $38 a month, you can sponsor a child and help ensure continued access to education, language, and stability. Visit heartsthathear.org to learn more and become a sponsor today.

A Christmas miracle is happening on our land in Kadem. The geological survey has identified a strong pocket of water, deeper than we originally planned, but a tremendous blessing nonetheless. This discovery brings us one step closer to providing clean, reliable water for the community and allows us to begin the next phase of building in the near future. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has prayed, donated, and supported this journey. Your generosity and faith are helping create a safer, healthier future for this community and for children with disabilities who will be protected and supported here.

If you would like to donate toward a water tank to store this life-changing resource, please visit www.heartsthathear.org
Thank you for being part of this incredible gift. 💧🎄

We’re excited to share that a geological survey is underway on our land as the first step toward drilling a well and beginning construction of a safe house for our students. Access to clean water is essential, not only for our students, but for the surrounding community as well. This project ensures that the place our students will call home also provides a vital resource for everyone, because clean water should be accessible to all.

What an unforgettable week at the B.L. Tezza School for the Deaf! More than 50 students joined us for camp, and the joy, laughter, and learning were nonstop. Thanks to the generosity of our incredible donors, this year’s camp brought so many opportunities to life. Our students explored STEM electronics, celebrated World Disability Day, tossed countless frisbees, and played soccer under the Kenyan sun. We are so grateful for every person who helped make this week possible. Your support creates memories, builds confidence, and opens doors for Deaf children who deserve every opportunity to learn and grow.

We already can’t wait to do it again next year!
