We wanted to share an update on baby Stephen. His surgery initially went well, and we were hopeful for a smooth recovery. However, after the procedure, Stephen began experiencing mild seizures. He is now under close observation in the hospital and will remain on medication for the next eight days.

The cost of Stephen’s surgery was $1,680, and while his parents were unable to afford the government’s medical insurance, we were able to provide eight months of coverage for just $44—ensuring he continues to receive the care he needs.

We are currently waiting to receive the final costs associated with his surgery and ongoing medical treatment.

Please continue to keep baby Stephen in your prayers. He still has a long road ahead, but your love and support mean the world to his family and to all of us at Hearts that Hear.

Thanks to your incredible kindness, Baby Stephen was able to have his surgery! His little legs, once pale and stiff, now have color again. He’s showing movement, and the blood flow has returned. We’re beyond grateful for everyone who gave, prayed, and shared. Together, we’re bringing hope where it’s needed most, one child at a time.

A mother who lives near our Hearts that Hear land has reached out in deep distress. She has just given birth to a baby boy — her first after seven daughters. This long-awaited child was born with spina bifida and needs immediate surgery at Kijabe Hospital.

The cost for this first of many hospitalizations is 37,000 KES (around $300 USD), but the family is still short 15,000 KES (about $100 USD). The mother is devastated and doing everything she can to give her newborn the chance to live and grow strong.

Your support could mean the difference between despair and hope for this family. Any amount you give will help this baby reach the hospital and begin the critical care he needs.

Lydia is still searching for a sponsor. Can you change her life and ensure she gets an education? 🤟

Meet Lydia! Lydia has faced more challenges in her young life than most will ever know. Living with sickle cell anemia and HIV, she also lost her hearing, sight, and physical mobility after a severe reaction to quinine medication. Though she miraculously regained her sight and mobility after five years, her hearing loss remained, forcing her to drop out of school.

Now, after two years away from the classroom, Lydia dreams of returning to learn at B.L. Tezza School for the Deaf. With sponsorship, Lydia can continue her education, receive daily care, and build a brighter future.

Your support of $38/month can give Lydia the chance she has been waiting for. Visit www.heartsthathear.org to sponsor a child.

Because of Lydia’s situation, we are keeping her identity private from social media. We all know how much we love to see children’s beautiful faces, but we want to give Lydia the privacy and respect she deserves.

Everlyn was married at just fifteen. Soon after, she became pregnant and gave birth to her daughter, Lucy. Before that, she had been a bright student at B.L. Tezza School for the Deaf, a place where she had found friendship and the joy of learning.

When Everlyn didn’t return to school after a long break, staff members began to worry. After searching, they learned of her desperate situation. Everlyn had become a child bride, struggling to care for her baby and survive.

Thanks to the compassionate efforts of the school staff, Everlyn and her daughter were brought back to the school, offering a safe place to stay and the chance for Everlyn to continue her education.

But soon, the school will close for a two-month holiday break. And for Everlyn, Lucy, and others like them, that means uncertainty and danger once again.

This is why a Safe House is urgently needed, a refuge where vulnerable students can stay during school breaks, protected and supported as they continue their journey toward education and independence.

Our first step in building that Safe House is simple but vital: a well.
Before we can build, we must have water.

Every drop brings us closer to safety, dignity, and hope for girls like Everlyn and for little Lucy, growing up in a world that finally gives her mother a second chance. You can donate at www.heartsthathear.org
