The BVRMC Auxiliary Annual Meeting was held in October, and the BVRMC Gift Shop presented the Auxiliary with a check for $35,000 from the proceeds of the Gift Shop over the past year. The Auxiliary uses this contribution and money from membership dues, fundraisers and donations to buy needed equipment for the hospital. Barb Argotsinger and Patti McKenna, Gift Shop Buyers, along with gift shop volunteers, presented the check to the BVRMC Auxiliary Board.

Paxtons Jewelry held their annual Balloon Bash and Cake Dig on Saturday, October 4 during Sassy Saturday. Proceeds benefited BVRMC P.i.n.k., a program designed to help women with financial barriers have access to mammography services. Gary and Rhonda Ringgenberg presented a check for $2,210 to Katie Schwint, BVRMC Executive Director of Community Development.

If you ordered from the BVRMC Auxiliary Frozen Soup Sale, your orders will be available for pick-up on Wednesday, October 22 and Friday, October 24 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. at BVRMC.

Storm Lake United and local retailers coordinated Sassy Saturday on October 4. Shoppers who purchased a pink bracelet had access to deals and discounts with local retailers. Proceeds benefit BVRMC P.i.n.k., which helps women with financial barriers get free mammograms. BVRMC recently created a new area for pediatric patients at BVRMC. This kid-friendly space was added to meet the growing need for pediatric rehab services, as more children are being treated in our program.

Many of the pediatric rehab items kids use to play and work on certain skills were purchased with donations to the Buena Vista Regional Healthcare Foundation. One piece is the swing system, which helps to promote balance, coordination, body awareness and sensory integration.

“We are proud to offer a space designed especially for children,” said Julia White, BVRMC Rehab Services Director. “This area helps make therapy a positive experience for kids and their families.”

BVRMC’s rehab team includes speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy. They provide care for children who need help with movement, strength, speech and language or daily skills. The new area gives them a kid-friendly place to grow, play and heal. If you have questions about the pediatric rehab services at BVRMC, please call 712.213.8674.
