At The Households of Bethany, we believe exercise is an important part of living a happy and healthy life. Our residents truly enjoy staying active and participating in activities that keep them moving!

Chair yoga is a wonderful way for our residents to engage in safe, gentle exercise while improving strength, flexibility, and balance. Even more importantly, it brings smiles, laughter, and a sense of community to everyone involved.

We love seeing our residents having fun, staying active, and supporting their overall well-being every day! 🧘‍♀️

Today, on Good Friday, we pause to remember the ultimate sacrifice—Jesus gave His life for us.

Through His suffering, we see the depth of His love. Through His sacrifice, we are given hope. The cross was not the end, but the beginning of grace, forgiveness, and new life for all who believe.

No matter what we face, we are never alone. His love reaches into our darkest moments, reminding us that redemption is always possible.

Let today be a time of reflection, gratitude, and drawing closer to the One who gave everything so that we may have eternal life.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

🌟 Resident of the Month: Richard & Karen Haigwood 🌟

We are proud to celebrate this wonderful couple as our Residents of the Month!

Richard (“Rich”) was born in Denver, Colorado, and grew up in Sidney, Nebraska, one of three children. Karen was born and raised in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where she was one of ten children. Karen graduated from high school in Council Bluffs and soon after became a mom. Rich graduated from McCook, Nebraska, and went on to serve in the United States Navy.

Rich and Karen were married in Council Bluffs and recently celebrated an incredible 60 years of marriage 💙

Together, they have built a beautiful family, including two sons, Tom (Ames) and Mike (Colorado), as well as six grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Karen dedicated her time to being a stay at home mom and providing daycare, while Rich served in the Navy and later worked for the telephone company in Shenandoah, Iowa.

The Haigwoods joined the Bethany Life community in October 2023. What they love most about Bethany Life is the positive atmosphere, meeting new people, and the meaningful conversations they share with others.

It was an honor to host Lee Grossman, Iowa Medicaid Director with the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, along with Brent Willett, President & CEO of the Iowa Health Care Association, Merea Bentrott, COO of IHCA, and Kera Oestreich, Iowa Medicaid Deputy Director.

We appreciate the opportunity to share our mission and highlight the work we do each day to serve our residents and community.

🌟 Resident of the Month: Thomas 🌟

Thomas was born and raised in Jefferson, Iowa, alongside his four brothers and his parents. After high school, he chose to jump right into the workforce, building his career as a factory foreman. He is the proud father of one son and one daughter, both happily married.

Thomas joined Bethany Life in 2024 and has been a wonderful part of our community ever since. He enjoys watching game shows, golfing, cheering on Iowa State sports, and listening to his favorite music.

When asked what he loves most about Bethany Life, Thomas shared that it is the friends he has made here. We are so grateful for the joy, conversation, and camaraderie he brings to our community each day. Congratulations, Thom! 🎉
