Rest is a key component for processing both nutrients and information in our bodies and minds. Truly no part of our systems can function properly without adequate sleep! But good rest starts even before you lay down in bed. Implement these steps to sleep well:
Create and stick to a pre-sleep routine: between 120 and 30 minutes before bed, we want to signal to our bodies that it is time to wind down, so dim the lights, turn off all screens, take a warm bath, read a physical book, stretch gently, meditate, journal, or sip some herbal tea. Also avoid the intake of caffeine, eating a heavy meals, and doing strenuous exercise starting 1-2 hours before it's time for bed.
Pick a wake-up time and keep it consistent. This will train your body's internal clock!
Limit light and sound while sleeping by using blackout curtains and removing technology from the room.
Keeping your room cool at night can also aid in more restful sleep.
