We want to extend our deepest appreciation to the Kiwanis Club of Jefferson County for gifting this sweet girl her very own adaptive tricycle.

Rorie was born with Spina Bifida, a condition resulting physical and neurological issues.

This adaptive tricycle allows Rorie to independently use a tryke for all the fun at home and in the community.

We are so thankful for your kindness and gifting Rorie the freedom to move. The smile on her face says it all!

April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month, and at Andrew’s Physical Therapy, we are proud to support those in our community who are living with Parkinson’s Disease.

Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition that affects movement and can impact balance, walking, speech, and fine motor skills such as writing. Many individuals in our community face these challenges every single day, and we want to do our part to raise awareness and support.

Throughout the month of April, we will be raising funds, with all proceeds benefiting the Cole Neuroscience Center for Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders in Knoxville, TN.

Here’s how you can get involved:

As a part of Multiple Sclerosis Awareness month, we’re honored to share Clark’s story. 🧡

Clark was diagnosed with relapsing-remitting MS in 2002, Clark says one of the biggest challenges he’s faced is fatigue—something much deeper than everyday tiredness. While many people can push through being tired, MS-related fatigue is different and can impact daily life in a big way.

Clark has also experienced mobility challenges, including issues with his knee that once required him to wear a brace. Thanks to dedication and physical therapy that he received at Andrew's Physical therapy, he was able to regain strength and eventually stop using the brace—something he once thought might be permanent.

Despite the ups and downs, Clark considers himself fortunate to live a mostly normal life. His journey has given him a deeper appreciation for his loved ones and strengthened his faith, which he says helps guide him day to day.

For those newly diagnosed, Clark shares this advice: the first year can be the hardest—mentally, emotionally, and financially—but with time, things become more manageable. “If you can just hold on and make it through the initial shock, things will get better.”

Every MS journey is unique, and stories like Clark’s remind us of the strength, resilience, and hope within this community. 💙

Living with multiple sclerosis (MS) can bring daily challenges that aren’t always visible—but they are very real. One of the most common and frustrating issues many patients face is difficulty with balance.

Spasticity (muscle stiffness), weakness, and impaired sensation can all disrupt the body’s ability to stay steady and coordinated. When muscles don’t respond the way they should, or when your brain isn’t getting clear signals from your body, even simple movements can feel unsafe or unpredictable.

Physical therapy can play a powerful role in improving balance, increasing strength, and helping you move with more confidence in your daily life. At Andrew’s Physical Therapy, we work one-on-one with patients to address these exact challenges and create personalized plans that support your goals.

If you or someone you love is living with MS and struggling with balance, reach out—we’re here to help you feel stronger, steadier, and more in control. 🧡

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) can present in many different ways—and no two people experience it exactly the same. From changes in balance and coordination - to fatigue, vision issues, and dizziness. Symptoms can vary widely and sometimes come and go unpredictably.
One of the most common (and frustrating) symptoms we see is dizziness or a sense of unsteadiness. This can be caused by how MS affects the brain’s ability to process information from the eyes, inner ear, and body. The result? Feeling off-balance, lightheaded, or even unsafe walking or with daily activities.

The good news: physical therapy can help.
At our clinic, we work with individuals living with MS to improve balance, reduce dizziness, and build confidence with movement. Through personalized exercises and hands-on care, we help retrain the body and nervous system to work more efficiently together.

If you or a loved one is experiencing dizziness, imbalance, or mobility challenges related to MS, you don’t have to navigate it alone. We’re here to help you feel steadier, stronger, and more in control.

Living with multiple sclerosis (MS) can bring challenges that aren’t always talked about—like changes in bladder, bowel, and pelvic floor function.

MS can affect the nerves that control the pelvic floor, which may lead to symptoms such as urinary urgency, incontinence, bowel dysfunction, or sexual dysfunction. The good news is that pelvic health physical therapy can help.

At our clinic, physical therapy focuses on: -Healthy habit and lifestyle modifications
-Improving awareness and coordination of the pelvic floor muscles
-Learning how to properly relax and strengthen the pelvic floor
-Strategies to improve bladder and bowel control
-When needed, we also use tools like biofeedback to help you better understand and control your pelvic floor muscles.

These symptoms are common with MS, but they are not something you have to manage alone. If you’re experiencing pelvic floor concerns, give our clinic a call—we’d be happy to talk with you about how pelvic health physical therapy may help.

Today we are highlighting one of our inspiring patients living with Multiple Sclerosis, Ashley Cochran. 🧡

She was diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis in 2013. Despite the challenges that can come with MS, she continues to show strength, resilience, and determination every day.

Here is what she has to say:

I’ve experienced many symptoms over the years but my main symptoms have been fatigue, brain fog, and weakness/numbness. With the help of my family and my faith in God, I live a blessed life despite my diagnosis.
Ashley at Andrew’s Physical Therapy has been amazing! With my latest relapse, Ashley is helping me strengthen my body and brain. These things are crucial in recovery.
My advice to someone with MS would be that it is ok to not be ok sometimes. Don’t be afraid to speak up for yourself! Listen to your body and if it needs a break, take it! You are your biggest advocate for your health.

Getting on and off the floor is a very important life skill. This may not be the most practical way to do it, but it sure was fun! 😄

In everyday life we’re constantly bending down to pick things up, playing with our kids or grandkids, and sometimes life throws us off balance. Falls can happen, and you might not always have someone nearby to help.

Being able to safely get up from the floor is an important part of staying independent and confident in your movement.

If getting up and down from the floor feels difficult, we can help you build the strength and mobility to do it safely. Give us a call!
